Sarah was beyond helpful and accommodating during our stay in town for a tournament. Weâll certainly be working with her the next time we come to Des Moines.
We had four adults and one dog. The fenced in backyard was great for the dog. Location was great for walking or running. Also great for getting to downtown and Des Moines relatives.
Thank you for hosting us. I travel a lot with my kids wrestling tournaments and this home was perfect. The front room flows into the kitchen and allowed for great times.
I had my trip dates change due to work schedules adjusting which occurred just a couple hours into the 14-day no cancellation window. The host told me to cancel without refund and rebook. I travel a lot for work using home hosting platforms and have never come across a host who refuses to allow a trip date change to an earlier open date if the calendar is open. I was very disappointed at the policy. I wouldnât recommend this home due to the inability to make reservations changes within 2 weeks before the reservation.
We noticed the house was littered with cobwebs and the bedrooms had a very stale smell to them. It was clear no one had examined the property before we arrived. When we went to clean the musty dog hair covered bed sheets we observed the washer had mold growing on the rubber seal. There was no mattress cover on the bed I was staying on and it was covered in pee stains. Needs replaced. The pillows did not have pillow protectors and were stained. The host did send new pillows. There were food crumbs on the couch and three of the chairs in the dining room. There was dog hair located in several areas of the house. In the kitchen, the silverware drawer had crumbs in it. So we had to wash all of the silverware. In the middle of the night on Christmas Eve to the fire alarm chirping. There were no batteries in the residence to replace the dead batteries. I had to go to the gas station. This could have been avoided with the simple house maintenance of changing your batteries every year. The last two days we were there we found the source of strange smell we had noticed in the kitchen since we got there. It was a dead mouse caught in a mouse trap and it had been there for some time. A host should check to make sure mouse traps are clear before guests arrive. We were offered no compensation our troubles. I sent pictures to the host. This is a nice location and the house is very lovely, unfortunately very dirty. Please install a large TV.
