Best Hotels in Taita-Taveta County for 2026

"Here, one must differentiate: did I personally like it? No. Was the staff attentive and very friendly, the grounds and rooms clean, the pool nice, and the food good? Yes. I didn't like it because the hotel is mainly visited by Western safari tourists (aged 45-80) who have booked complete packages through various providers and are driven from lodge to lodge. This is a special clientele that I don't belong to, which is why I was shocked when I arrived. The next point was the prices charged. I had breakfast included and had to pay for lunch and dinner myself (27$ each meal, excluding drinks). A 3-hour safari in a van was supposed to cost 14k (€93) and in a jeep 24k (€160). On top of that, there was the general park entrance fee of $80 ($90 including the park's bank fees). I then booked a 6-hour safari with another provider for the same price. I wouldn't come back again; you couldn't see any spectacular animals at the waterhole. It's better to look for something simple in Voi and organize a driver from there."

"Amazing Camp in the middle of Tsavo West. All the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our lodge was very clean, spacious and cozy. The bed had a good and clean mosquito net and the matress was super comfortable. Our terrace was right in front of a small water hole were we saw loads of animals like antilopes, zebras, monkeys, flocks of birds and even a crocodile. At dinner we saw an elephant family coming close which was one highlight of our trip. Dinner was tasty and they catered for all of our dietary requirements. At breakfast we enjoyed the good buffet selection whilst taking in the views. We left before lunch but they provided us, and even our guide with lunch boxes - which was a great touch. As the camp is surrounded by wildlife the staff really looks out for the guests, guide you from and to the lodges after dark, so we aways felt safe. We had only one night there - we could have stayed much longer."
