I will never stay at the Marriott Detroit Southfield again, and I strongly recommend others think twice before booking. My experience was beyond unacceptable from start to finish. First, the hallways were complete chaos. Kids were screaming, running up and down the halls, and even yelling slur words with zero intervention from staff. It felt more like a poorly supervised dorm than a Marriott property. Second—and most concerning—one of the housekeepers left our room door wide open for HOURS while we were gone. Thousands of dollars in clothing and merchandise were sitting in plain sight, completely accessible to anyone walking by. The level of negligence is unreal. Then on top of that, we needed maintenance that took nearly four hours to address. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, making it impossible to get good rest after everything else that already went wrong. I reported everything to both the manager and the GM, and the “compensation” I received was a point balance equal to about twenty dollars. Twenty dollars after all of that. An absolute joke. This location is a disgrace to the Marriott name. I will not return, and I can’t recommend it to anyone.

2 stars and let me explain. Checked in, received our room key, went to the room the door was already open. Huge Red Flag! Got into the room with my family, the beds were barely made. There were no pillow cases on the pillows. The room generally was not ready. To not make a fuss, we asked the cleaning lady for some pillow cases, as she was already on our floor. She said, no unfortunately thats only something the front desk can provide. The staff were friendly enough, however, guest services said for the inconvenience they would provide breakfast vouchers for my family of 4. It never came. The room they moved us to wasnt the cleanest little left over dust/crums on the floor. The bathroom sink appeared to be clogged as it took some time for the water to drain. It was an unfortunate experience. 1 star because the staff were generally pleasant and the location is close to the highways and 1 more because fortunately for us we were only there 1 night, they had a pool for the kid (which we didnt use) and the beds were confortable. After a 5 hour drive we didnt need the hassle of changing rooms and the orher room being just as poor.

I liked everything about this hotel stay except the breakfast. It could've been a lot better specifically waffles and pancakes but there was a good variety, the sausage were delicious and the serbice was exceptional so that made up for it! Other than that, everything was great and I would definitely stay here again.
