So overall, I can say I would recommend this home to stay in. But there are definite upgrades that need to be made. It is an older home, so some things canât be helped. However, the yard is in need of serious repair. We had a couple people tripping on holes and things in the dark as nothing is lit well. Also, if you like to cook, be aware the cookware is in need of serious improvement. There were pots and pans that no one should eat from. (Scratches on teflon, etc) But the rooms were nice sized, with the suites being very large with nice baths. And the cabins were perfect for privacy for our adult children.
Very nice place and enjoyed the the perfect location. The only complaint we have is the middle cabin was so damp the bedding was wet. We didn't need that cabin so it really didn't affect our stay. The host was very easy to work with and very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.
Chateau de Vin was perfect for our group. We had two families with kids in the main house, two sets of grandparents and an aunt/uncle in the cabins. The whole place was spotlessly clean, very spacious and had everything we needed for a fun long weekend. We loved the gathering space in the backyard and the Adirondacks on the front porch. Super close to the Root Beer Barrel, Douglas Beach, the chain ferry and Mt. Balfour/Oval Beach. The host allowed us to bring two extra dogs for a fee so we didnât have to leave anyone behind. Highly recommend this stay for a big group!
My niece was married over the weekend and we wanted to stay in a place that housed most of the family. This place was above and beyond perfect. Everyone had a place to sleep. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen stocked with anything you needed and the grounds were perfect for hanging out during the day and night. Saugatuck was a great place to go shopping and sit by the water. We could not have been happier with our stay.
The amenities were very nice. The rooms were much smaller than they appeared in the photos. We stayed in the upstairs queen bedroom. The mattress was awful, I moved to the bunk bed next door. A mirror in the bedroom would be nice, as would more counter space in the bathroom. For makeup curling iron etc. the linens and towels were luxe. Overall a lovely home
This property was perfect for our family. There were 8 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 3-72. Lots of room to spread out. Kitchen was well equipped. Front porch was great for morning coffee and evening cocktails. The Ferry road closure was a little inconvenient but turned out fine because it reduced the traffic. Loved the short walk to the coffee shop!
Location was beautiful!! Probably not my best choice for a yoga retreat but we definitely made it work and we loved it! Luxurious rooms and the grounds were fantastic! Location was perfect and Iâll be back!
19 family members enjoyed 5 days at this well equipped and spacious resort. The 3 cottages were a great assit and the grounds were superb for adults and children. The hot tub and the seperared game room were thoroughly enjoyed. You can easily walk to Lake Michigan or Sagatuck. We plan to return.
We stayed in the Chateau for a high school friends reunion trip. Our group included 10 adults, 2 teens, 2 small children and 2 dogs. Plenty of space for all of us, lots of fun in the yard playing games. We utilized the fire pit nightly and the patio for coffee each morning. As noted, group space inside the house is small - but doable. And there is a ton of space outside. Highly recommend â clean, manager was responsive, check in/check out was easy and the âhoney doâ list was COMPLETELY reasonable! Really enjoyed our experience.
The property was just as described. It was 5 minutes at most from Saugatuck and minutes from the beach. We held a very private wedding there with about 10 guests. The grounds were pretty and there were tons of games for the kids to play with. Would highly recommend!
We 4 colleagues and our families decided to get away from Chicago for Thanksgiving weekend. This was a good place to get away to, with 5 bedrooms (including a kids room with a bunk bed) in the main house, three other bedrooms in standalone cabins, and a game room with enough games to keep a horde of kids occupied. The entire compound is well-maintained, and is great for a large group.
Chateau DâVine was the perfect location for our extended family as we celebrated our Momâs 90th birthday! The property comfortably accommodated our family (13 adults, 2 children). The house and cottages were clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well appointed and the location was great!! We all had a wonderful time in this lovely setting!
Chateau D'Vine was the perfect spot for our family as we gathered for our son's wedding. The place was clean, the beds very comfortable. It's a charming old house. We found the inside common areas to be a little cramped for how many the house holds.
We had a great experience with Upscale Rentals. They were very responsive to all of our questions and the house and cabin came equipped with everything we needed.
The game room was a nice addition for the kids but did have a very musty odor and the door was broken from the inside so if the kids shut the door tight they got trapped. Wait maybe thatâs a good thing đ
The living room is very small but it wasnât a big deal for us, we mostly used the front porch and the screened in patio.
One other piece of feedback, I would add another garbage container. For a home holding 23 people and once a week trash pick-up, we ran out of room in the bins.
Our family reunion included up to 18 guests and the facilities comfortably accommodated our family. The location is especially nice because you can walk/bike around the area and enjoy local highlights.
We were just 10 people so we had plenty of room in the four bedroom main house and three cabins. The kitchen was well appointed and we had enough seating at the dining table for all of us to dine together. The screened in porch was lovely, and mornings we sat out on the decks to listen to the birds. We saw some beautiful orioles and a green heron. The hot tub was well maintained and we had a nice soak after climbing the stairs at Mt Baldy. My 94YO father was thrilled to be able to spend time with all his children and most grandchildren in this beautiful setting.
We had a long weekend and had a great stay with 6 couples in the house, property was as described and well maintained. Walkable to Douglas and Saugatuck (30 min.). Great setting to lounge in and kitchen was really well equipped with everything you needed - actually very surprised how well equipped. Really enjoyed it.
We had a problem with one of the electronic locks and the property manager was very fast to respond to help resolve the issue. Would definitely stay here again with a large group!
Way too small for group of 23 as listed. Cottages were small, had odor of a stuffy room.
This property is not big enough for group of 23 as it says in the listing. We had 22 people in our group for our 25th anniversary. To accommodate our guests we had to share king bed with our son , and share the room with my mother in law. So total of 4 people in master bedroom. Not to mention ,that pull out couch is blocking the entrance, so you can not leave or enter the room. First of all it is not safe in case of emergency and it is very uncomfortable.
The bathroom upstairs had to be shared between 4 people ( 2 bedrooms) had no lock, so no privacy. The bedroom with 2 single beds way too small, beds too short for adults, room stays hot, no air.
When we arrived, we contacted the host to confirm that this place sleeps 23 , the host suggested that my husband ( who is 6'1) should sleep on the couch in the living room on the main floor. The couch is not even long enough to sleep anybody, most definitely not somebody who is 6'1.
Cottages were very small, they had odor.
This property is ok for young crowd, who do not care where to sleep or do not need privacy in the bathroom.
