Scottish gothic meets Fawlty towers. Carpets were worn, bed like marshmallow, bath big enough for toddlers. Food was ok but not brilliant. Staff were entertaining. Dark wood panelling, windows that needed a good clean. But the bones were good and I could feel the ghost of Rabbie walking the grounds

Stay was ok for price paid however is dated and tired especially bathroom area, needs general maintenance, re grouting, paintwork etc. Breakfast was poor, basically cereal and toast, paid extra for cooked breakfast which was small and nothing special. It wasn't the worst hotel I have stayed in but I wouldn't return. Shame as the building and grounds are incredible.
