Although our room was newly redecorated and carpeted, the entire room was covered in paint dust. There was still masking tape covering the light rose AND one of the window curtains was hanging off. We had to use a hair clip to close it. While these arent big things they do impact your stay.The food was okay. Frozen chips and frozen peas. The co tine tal breakfast was a bit sparse too. The grounds are very well kept a d beautiful. The staff are all really pleasant and helpful.

Where do I start! Car park mucky and full of potholes, room fine until nighttime when radiator wouldn’t turn down so had to open the window on a very windy night. Only one person on reception until 7 so people queuing to get checked in and served at bar. Dinner was passable for fish and chips but haggis chicken was basic and tasted awful. For the food price they need to do better. Breakfast slow (35 mins) and they have now started charging £9.50 for a cooked breakfast. Continental breakfast included in room price but consists of boxes of mini cereal, bread (ran out of butter) croissants (ran out) and tinned fruit. Only one person serving so juice etc kept running out. To top it all off a cleaner walked into room at 1040 (unannounced) while my son was getting dressed! So in summary not enough staff, poor food and overpriced.

The property is beautiful. The outdoors, entrance and hall are gorgeous. Very Scottish looking, which was what we wanted, however the room we stayed have seen better days. There was mould all over the tiles in the shower, the windows are old so the room was freezing cold. We had to ask for extra duvets because the ones they gave us weren’t enough. The carpet is very dirty and stained. House keeping needs to do a better job at cleaning, even the mug and cutlery were dirty. It’s such a shame the rooms aren’t being well looked after, as the property has an amazing potential The staff is so friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is delicious.

Good shower, good wi fi, good dinner (although a little expensive as I paid £28.50 just for a main meal) wh8ch is more than I would expect to pay. Breakfast was okay, staff were nice and friendly. Was a full size snooker table but was disappointed I cpuldnt get a game as the 2 guys playing were a little ignorant when i asked if i could play and they said no they were having another game Dog friendly which is great if your bringing ypur dog, but not if your there for work and want to sleep and a dog what seemed like the next room kept barking. I am a dog owner and dog lover myself but !!

Most of the staff were pleasant, some left a bit to be desired. The whole building needs a lot of tlc, windows are in need of maintenance and leaking walls and ceilings. Liked the lounge, stair carpet very worn. Has an interesting history. Just make sure you check your bill before leaving.

A really lovely place to stay.

We stayed in the self catering and it was lovely. Beautifully clean. The meal in the evening was really nice and the staff were extremely professional and so friendly. They all made such a fuss of our dog!
