The cabin was perfect. Very clean and exactly as described in the add. The only discrepancy was the Internet information that was sent to us had a different network name, this was not an issue as the correct information was on the instructions at the cabin. Our dogs loved the backyard.
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay while at the cabin! It was quiet and in a lovely community away from town and any noise. The cabin itself was very clean and well stocked with appliances and miscellaneous supplies. I only have one minor complaint. The cabin could use more comfortable seating; indoors and out. The patio furniture was not comfortable, and the living area could have used another set of recliners or cushy chairs. Other than this small detail, our stay was delightful!
We loved our stay here, even though it was hot outside and there was as no AC the cabin stayed very cool and the cool nights were amazing. We loved the quiet while still close enough to enjoy Durango.
We love this place and have stayed here 3 times. The kitchen is really well equipped and the beds are super comfortable. Its very clean and comfortable and there's anice yard and patio too.
Very clean. Electric fireplace did not work. Property manager very attentive. Water in 2nd bathroom could be warmer. Beds are showing some wear. Kitchen well stocked. Wifi connectivity. Would likely stay there again and would also recommend.
We loved staying in this wonderful strawbale and solar powered home!
Beautiful location and close to hiking trails!
It was quiet, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed.
We hope to stay here again.
Family of four on vacation. The cabin was comfortable and well maintained. Was in a rural neighborhood but not too close to anyone. The property was peaceful, lot's of birds and critters to watch. The nights were quiet and dark (which was nice coming from a Texas suburb)! It was a great place to come back to and relax after our many activities. About 20/25 minutes to Durango. Would stay again, for certain.
It did get a little warm inside during the day, Maybe low to mid 80s; but that's because were were staying at probably the hottest part of the year. Owner had a swamp cooler and fans inside that helped. We opened the windows at night which was great because the temps got down to the low 60s/high 50s. The mornings were beautiful and cool.
I might suggest bring drinking water as the tap water there is fairly soft and slightly sulfuric. This made all the difference when brewing coffee.
A week or so before we asked to tack an extra day on the front of our stay because. We immediately got a response that it could be done. This place was just what my family was looking for! Thanks!
Great location about 30 minutes from downtown Durango. easy access to trails and lakes. Very well equipped and furnished.
Lovely backyard where pets can play safely at will.
We really enjoyed the place and will be back for "real" (see comment below about internet) vacations.
A few details that could have made the stay from Good to Great.
- The internet works however is extremely slow (Speedtest : Ping 600 MS Download 9.99Mbps Upload 0.50 Mbps). this makes it ok to browse the internet casually but definitely not OK for a workcation week. Do not count on being able to do Zoom call form there. We had to go work downtown in a rented office.
- On the description pictures, there is a tarp outside that give shade on the terrasse. the Tarp was not there, this is unfortunate as it could have been pleasant to be outside in the shade.
- Finally, all the sink drain need cleanup. there is a very bad odor coming for mthe drains when water flows.
The property is exactly as advertised. Clean, comfortable, and beautiful area. It was a great base camp for our Durango adventures. There was an unprecedented heat wave while we were there. The owners prepared, and supplied us with fans and a large swamp cooler which made a huge difference, and kept us comfortable. I recommend this property to anyone visiting the Durango area.
We really enjoyed the cabin. It was extremely quiet and close to both Lake Lemon and Vallecito (which are awesome). The drive up to the cabin is pretty steep but ok for an SUV, truck or Subaru. Definitely bring water; as noted in other reviews the Sulphur smell is strong. The solitude of the cabin is worth the trade offs though.
The strawbale house itself is eclectic in terms of decoration, but it grows on you. The furniture layout in the main room makes no sense, but I guess it somehow works. What I didn't like is that when I booked the property, there was no mention of having a 4WD vehicle with snow tires required, until I received the check-in information. Didn't matter - my X5 made it through the neighborhood just fine, even without snow tires. Had to shovel 24" of snow off the driveway, because the guy that was supposed to plow it didn't show up till 6PM, and we needed food. Good cardio workout, but it took 4 hours to clear. That said, that would not be the standard experience, as it was an act of mother nature. Cabin was clean, all standard cooking implements were there. Bed was comfortable. Also, the TV has subscriptions to all streaming services I can imagine.
Very well equipped kitchen. Bed and pillows super comfy. Just an all around good vibe to the place. Super friendly neighbors. Lovely hike just up the road. Lemon Reservoir a short drive and just beautiful! I pooch was in heaven. We would totally go back!
We enjoyed our time at this cabin. Itâs depicted accurately and is clean and comfortable. Is located about 20-30 minutes away from Durango. Main negative is the well water has a strong sulfur odor more than taste. We chose to purchase all our drinking water to be on the safe side. Wifi service occasionally quite slow or may even drop, but most of the time worked well. Itâs well equipped and overall met our expectations and needs.
