Stayed at Chapel Cross Guest House while visiting Roslyn Chapel, which is a short walk away. Unforgettable experience with nothing but glowing reviews. While this hotel is older and the floor boards squeak, I found my overall stay to be pleasant. The beds are comfortable and the rooms and amenities are clean. For the price, they provide high value.
Across the street is The Original Rosslyn Hotel which has amazing food at the Gastropub. I can't recommend the Steak & Stewart Brewings Ale Pie and the House Special hot chocolate enough! Honestly, it is some of the best food I've had in my life!
Down the road is the Rosslyn Chapel which is my second favorite church, next to York Minister.
Awesome place to visit if you're in the area!
Les points faibles : Personnel et service et confort de la chambre
Not our cup of tea
This was our least favorite place to stay on our trip. We had a mix up with the hotel staff about payment (didn't realize that we still needed to pay and it was not done through Orbitz). The staff checking us in didn't know what Orbitz was so we did not start off on the right foot. The room was clean, but the celling in the bathroom was peeling and there was mold/mildew on the window frames. We also had never seen an electric shower before and didn't know that we needed to find a breaker to turn on (it was not obvious in the bathroom). There was no staff to ask so we ended up going showerless that night. We ended up not staying the 2 days we booked as it just didn't fit our personalliyt
Room was comfortable and quiet. Note that check-in ends at 9pm. Our confirmation said 10pm and if we hadn't caught Richard we would have not had a place to stay the night. Richard was very courteous and assisted us in checking in. This restriction needs to be corrected on Orbitz/Expedia.
This affordable B&B has a small off street car park, is conveniently situated near Edinburgh, and we found our bedroom with ensuite bathroom to be comfortable and clean.
I wasn't pleased with room needed curtains as window was directly over looking a popular pub
Also double decker bus stopped out side so people on the top could see in our room
Staff were really friendly and the Owners are doing the place up so things will get better. However...
It is SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTING that for a business traveler, there is no way to get breakfast. Food is not served until 10:30 in the tea room.
Parking was poor ( with two skips in the car park blocking spaces )
Beautiful, comfortable, big room. Comfortable bed! Right next to Rosslyn chapel and a darling pub and restaurant. Tea room on site for snacks and coffee and tea. We loved it.
We had a family gathering as grandparents had lived in Glenside Cottages in the glen late 19th/early 20th century and are buried in the chapel church yard. Most of us stayed at Rosslyn Castle, and three of us stayed at The Chapel Cross GH.
Very helpful friendly staff, all the facilities necessary for a comfy stay.
Lovely pub next door providing an excellent lunch.
Not much in the town but perfect for a quiet get away.
