The apartment was very clean, a lovely space. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. Close to the main areas for shopping and sight seeing. The kitchen could do with a few more utensils, there were no scissors or a corkscrew/bottle opener.
We were unable to access the keys on the first night of our stay and ended up waiting in a Costcutter while the customer service team tried to resolve the issue. Eventually, we were relocated to a different apartment on the opposite side of Edinburghâonly after we suggested booking our own hotel for the night. It was a stressful and disappointing experience to arrive and find we couldnât get into the apartment we had booked. There appeared to be no clear process for issuing a backup set of keys, and the only compensation offered was 30% off the first nightâs stay.If you have the option, I would recommend choosing a property not managed by Joivy. Once the other guests vacated the apartment we were double-booked into, it turned out to be a lovely place to stay. I sincerely hope the owner of the Johnstone Terrace property receives proper payment for the ad-hoc arrangement we had to make.
Great location- only small hitch wasvery small hitch when directions for opening door was misunderstoodie. Pulling open door-as we would in Canada-as apposed to pusing in door. And using red electronic key when only green suppied- it didnt matter but confusing to jet lagged me! Suite was beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and a wonderful view. Stair would be a problem if there were mobility issues -would definitely stay again
The apartment is close to a lot of sights and right near all the happening places. Downside is that it is right on top of a bar and that means thumping music till 2am. No elevator is tough for taking luggage up and down. The property owner does not communicate well for key pickup from the key nest and we had to call VRBO to get that sorted out after two hrs on the phone.
Great location for everything. Bus station, tram, pubs and the castle. You are in the heart and pulse of Edinburgh. Apartment has all the basics you need, plus a nice view north!
Really lovely presented apartment, Lots of stairs and no elevator however worth it for the view.
Central location, clean and tidy. Comfy beds Second bedroom is really wee but fine for a weekend.
Check in and communications were easy enough. No issues with the apartment, really fun space
The place was great location and the unit itself was good. Close to shopping, food and attractions. Rain shower head did not have much pressure. The thermostat for the towel warmer is in the living room. It took us a day or so to figure this out.
And just a FYI for anyone not used to stairs, when they say 3rd floor flat, thatâs actually 4th floor in Europe and UK. A little hard with a heavy suitcase but do able.. otherwise very clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and was an excellent location for wandering around Edinburgh. Having to pick up the key at a different location was somewhat inconvenient, but it wasnât too far. A few added amenities such as a hair dryer, salt, pepper and spices would have been welcomed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
We loved our stay at this flat. It was exactly as advertised. We stayed over a weekend and so could feel and hear the thumping of dance music from the club next door through the floor and windows. However, it was not super loud and we found it amusing more than anything else. No one struggled to fall asleep because of the noise.
The on street parking was very convenient for the one night we had a car but it wouldnât be a good idea to use it for a long stay as the parking is (rightly) expensive.
Beds were quite comfortable. I was dubious because theyâre very soft but they worked out very well.
Excellent central location allowing us to walk everywhere and thoroughly enjoy a beautiful city.
A very cute apartment in a wonderful location but some of the basics were a miss. Beds were very old and uncomfortable, shower had zero pressure, room temperatures hard to control, no window coverings, and a dance club next door....and MANY STEPS to climb!
Lovely place, however, the third floor apartment is really like a fourth floor apartment. There are 76 steps to climb.
I was told there were just 56 but that is not true. Not great for a back injury and being over 70 years old.
If you need air circulation in your room, you'll want to bring a fan.
Lastly, be prepared to walk around the block to throw your garbage bag away before leaving.
Overall the place in Edinburgh was very well situated.
You can drive and park at the Omni and walk easily over to the apartment.
I felt so safe there.
The Hop On and Off was a great way to orient to the city too.
The apartment is in a great location and is nice, quiet and nice views. The ad should state that it is on the top floor and requires a climb of many flights of stairs. If we knew this, we would not have booked. With luggage and our 77 year old mother, this was too much. We had to go to a store to pick up and drop off the keys? Especially when there are lock boxes just outside the door? Very inconvenient and unnecessary. The smaller room is very small and tight. The beds are old and worn out and really need replaced. Outside of that, it is nice and within walking distance to just about anything you would want to see in this stunning city. Overall, this is a great choice.
Overall everything went well. Great location for hopping on a bus or walking to the local sites. Very clean and fast communication from property management. A couple notations for individuals looking to stay here.
1: This property is above a club which means from Friday to Sunday you can hear the music and also feel the vibrations until around 1 am from inside this property. So depending on the type of person you are you may not appreciate that.
2: The Hex heater does not work. You can set a target, you can set a schedule or manual - it will not get up to heat above 17-20 C. The warmest room will be the bathroom when you turn on the towel warmer. You can turn on the radiators but they are on a timer so when I turned them on when I went to bed and when I woke up they were off.
