We stayed for two nights to explore Edinburgh. The staff was amazing and went the extra mile to make sure we had a pleasant stay. The common areas were clean and beautifully decorated. There were multiple restaurants and bars that we didn’t bet the opportunity to try out, but wish we did. The rooms were beautiful. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace for a drink and view of the city. Only downside was how small our room was. With our suitcases it was hard to walk around with just two of us in there. Next time I’d book a larger room. Overall, would highly recommend.

Booked 2 rooms on Expedia, but hotel had no record of 1 of the rooms. Took hours to resolve the issue. Room was noisy at night - could hear the thumping base from a nearby bar/nightclub. Otherwise nice hotel.

I liked the fact that it was a historic building, but the room was fully modern with great amenities. I loved the view of the castle from my room as well. The staff were above and beyond fabulous. I only have one complaint. The toilet was in its own little compartment and a bright light came on when one entered.This light could not be turned off. As someone who gets up during the night to use the toilet, that light was very shocking to the system. It would be wonderful if there was an option to disable it.

GREAT LOCATION!!

The hotel provided a wonderful experience with its convenient location, excellent staff, and effective air conditioning system. The only aspect that could be enhanced is the water pressure in the shower, as well as the slow drainage in the sink.

Loved the service and atmosphere at the hotel. I ate at both Eve (breakfast and lunch) and Commons Club (dinner) and really enjoyed all the meals. The rooftop deck is so nice and was underutilized by the other guests so I got it all to myself one night! Minibar was well stocked, and there was lots of storage for clothes, suitcases, etc. My one complaint was I was facing the street across from a hostel and it was loud until 2am Saturday and Sunday night. There’s nothing the hotel can do about that unfortunately (maybe have a talk with their neighbors?) but it wasn’t ideal.

The hotel itself has a nearly perfect location just off the Royal Mile. It’s a very cool and trendy hotel. We really love the design. There were two things that took away from the enjoyment of our stay. Firstly, every night we stayed at the hotel. There was a wildly loud wedding or party going on in the event space that lasted deep into the night that seriously disturbed the enjoyment of being able to sleep comfortably in the rooms. We had rented three rooms and all of them were directly up against the event space and it was really disappointing. Secondly, we died at the Commons club and unfortunately it was likely the worst experience of all the restaurants we enjoyed while in Edinburgh. The service was great. The ambience was perfect, but the food was just subpar. I would happily stay at the hotel again and request a room much further away from the adjoining church venue and simply take a pass on the commons club for eating. The staff were super friendly and always helpful and the vibe of the hotel is really special. I hate giving it anything less than a top review but having a comfortable place to sleep, that’s relatively quiet feels like it should be a necessity.

We loved this hotel! Service was amazing but you never were woken up by knocks on the door from housekeeping. All service was exceptional and happened when you were away from you room. Lovely location and loved the entrances on two sides of the hotel.

My favorite home away from home

This was our second visit to Virgin Hotel Edinburgh, and once again they did not disappoint. We stayed in beautiful suites on the 9th and 10th floors — incredibly comfortable, with so much thought put into every detail. I absolutely love the energy of this hotel. Virgin as a brand has always stood out to me, whether in hotels, on cruise lines, or in airlines, and this property is no exception. The branding, design, and staff training are all outstanding and create a real sense of being at home. Dinner at the Commons Club was exceptional, and our return to the Chef’s Table was just as special as the first time — a truly memorable experience. The only small suggestion I would make is that the breakfast menu could use a little more attention to detail; compared with Virgin Voyages cruises, it felt a touch average. That said, the hotel’s design, the welcoming staff, and the comfort of the rooms more than make up for it. For me, staying with Virgin is always a perfect blend of business and pleasure, and I would choose this hotel again in a heartbeat.

Excellent location. Clean room with comfortable features. Funky decor in lobby which was fun. Biggest negative for us was that the hotel was so crowded and loud- you couldn’t really enjoy the common areas…it seemed there were wedding/s and the parties really created a lot of noise and crowds. We would come back to the hotel and feel like we needed to go straight to our room which was a bummer !
