Stay was great. The pictures don't do the property justice. The house was amazing and very spacious. We had an amazing stay. There was literally no reason to leave the house except for food and drinks. My only complaints are the rooms closest to the pool were very warm, the grill was not clean, and several of the utensils were dirty.

This house represents indoor-outdoor living at its best! There’s even a little orchard in the back yard. We had three generations staying at this house and it was perfect for our needs. The pool was fantastic and didn’t need to be heated in July. A note to those with younger kids, the lofted bed is best suited for teens and adults. The host was responsive and kind. The only reason I didn’t give this house 5 stars was because there were some small things that need to be replaced/ fixed but nothing that ruined our stay. I would absolutely stay here again.

Avoid like the plague, the Bubonic plague.

This house has everything- a pool, great views, lots of bedrooms, and most importantly: LIVE RODENTS, DEAD RODENTS (and that horrible odor), and rodent FECES, plus stained curtains, cobwebbed windows, and more! On your very first night, you may have the experience of seeing a rat run across the floor of the kitchen traumatizing your tween daughter. You'll then recognize the signs of a rodent infestation, like feces under the stove, under the wine fridge, and in the theatre room where your kids were just playing, to name a few. After you complain to the owner and supervise the visit from the property manager, you'll get to see a dead rat pulled from under the dryer! That odor won't go away though, meaning there are OTHER dead rodents that you haven't found yet. Will you get your money back? Some of it, MAYBE, but only after begging to leave, pleading and threatening over several days. The best part? The owner will have the audacity to dock you 800 from the agreed upon partial refund when you leave 40 minutes "late", even though your vacation has been ruined and you're checking out three days early. Sound like fun? Then this house is for you!

Secret gem with lovely views!

The house was rented for both leisure and work. I've stayed at a number of homes in the surrounding cities of San Diego, and this home was just wonderful. The three separate outdoor patio's were excellent, with one of them providing one of the most breathtaking views of the hills and lake. The indoor also blends in really well with the outdoor, really unique architecture and design. The host was very responsive. I would certainly stay here again!

The views are incredible

Beautiful home. Large and great for groups or families. Really the views are what makes this home so incredible. The manager is great and answered all our questions almost immediately. Some small things were a little annoying (internet needed to be reset a few times, not enough pool towels provided) But nothing big and overall we had a great stay. Perfect for cooking at home with two fridges, bbq grill, plenty of appliances. Pool was fun with great waterfall feature. This is actually the second time we’ve stayed at this home and enjoyed our stay both times. Lots of space to spread out so you never feel cramped even when traveling with a large group. Costco, Trader Joe’s and other grocery stores in close proximity too. Great home.

Great family getaway

We enjoyed the beautiful views from morning to night. Rooms were spacious and cool. We took advantage of the beautiful breezes late afternoon and evening. The children’s spent most of their time in the pool. We made many family meals in the chefs kitchen. Thank you we enjoyed our family vacation in this absolutely wonderful home.

San Diego area Wedding

We rented this property in 2019 and the return trip in June of 2023 for a 5 night stay was again wonderful. The property's location provides beautiful, wide-sweeping views of Lake Hodges and the valley from above. We hiked the trails around Lake Hodges one afternoon. We love the home's amenities, including the pool, hot tub, ping pong table, fantastic kitchen, and the numerous areas where you can dine, inside or out, with great views. The home was very clean and there were plenty of bedrooms with sitting areas to spread out our group of 3 couples. Each couple took turns preparing dinner, and the kitchen, along with the catering area behind the kitchen, are well stocked with everything you will need. The property's host, Evan, checked on us via e-mail, after our 1st night's stay, to be sure all was in order. Communication with him was a pleasure and he was very responsive when we alerted him to an issue with the gas stove not fully working. He had a serviceman out the same day to work on it while we were at the zoo. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay, once again, at this property. It is the perfect location to give you a feeling of being in the countryside, yet close enough to visit all San Diego has to offer in the city and along the beaches. My wife loves the little, well-stocked, library in the home, and found numerous places to curl up and read throughout the house. We hope to make a return stay the next time our travels bring us to the San Diego area.

Beautiful view!

This house was very spacious. Loved the two different wings of rooms to accommodate our extended family of 12. Views were amazing. Had a birdseye view of a mountain bike race. Only negatives were the house alarm that went off at 4:00 am our first night there and the pool was never cleaned before or during our stay. Maybe it was a little “pre” pool season, but for our Midwest kids they wanted to go swimming even in the cooler temperatures. There is plenty of space for a large group! There was something for all
theater room, game room, reading room and a very large kitchen/pantry area.

Lovely Lake Hodges House

We had 10 adults stay at this incredible house for a family reunion. The fully equipped kitchen with separate butler's kitchen is fantastic for making and cleaning up large meals. The two outdoor areas provide gorgeous views of the mountains, lake and trails surrounding the house. The pool and spa are fantastic. The layout of the 6 bedrooms with 3 each on opposite sides of the house is perfect. House is clean, sheets and towels were clean and plentiful. Communications were easy and responsiveness was top notch. We would certainly stay here again!

Overall great property!

Overall we enjoyed the property - it was amazing for a group of our size (6 adults + 6 kids) as there were plenty of bedrooms for everyone, tons of space to spread out, plenty of fridge room, and overall just a lot of things to do! The pool was fantastic. Evan was very easy to communicate with. It was easy to find and the view was great. There were a few things that could have been better - the dishwasher didn't do a great job cleaning the dishes and the water pressure in the showers was pretty poor - but overall we had a great stay and would recommend to others.

Birthday celebration

We have stayed at a few different houses in the last few years and this has been the best, so far. Great pool and jacuzzi. Interesting house, that has a lot of character, we would stay here again.
