The host are quick to respond to any needs. The home sits back off the street a little bit which adds to its charm. When you walk into the home, the immediate feel is that you are stepping back into your grandmother's house. The home is clean and peaceful. The homes on both sides of the house are old and in need of repair. However, the neighbors are very nice saying hello when we were outside. The police and fire department are right at the end of the street. About a full city block away. I did see police patroling the neighborhood several times as I took our dog out. I believe the police keep a close eye on the neighborhood since it's right at their backdoor. We experienced severe weather while at this property. The police and fire department are both shelters open to the public, should there be a tornado event. So at least if the tornado sirens go off, shelter and safety are nearby.
I really enjoyed staying in this cozy home. The owner thought of everything. I really appreciated the toiletries and all the small touches to make the stay comfortable. The house is located within minutes to Main Street. We enjoyed a short walk to the ice cream shop. The neighborhood is family friendly and very close by to a park. We felt safe staying here and would do so again! Thank you!
The overall draw was price, looked adorable online, & area had lots of food/store choices. I do wish I would have researched the neighborhood more bc when I pulled up I was instantly uncomfortable as a woman staying by herself. Overall, the stay was going well until Saturday morning when I attempted to unlock the front door and the digital lock would not open, essentially locking me IN the house. I attempted multiple things to get it to unlock with no success. I reached out to the homeowner with multiple calls & texts but no answer. Worth noting we had lost our entire home in Apr 2020 due to a fire, escaping with nothing but our lives. This home has small windows & no other escape so I began to panic. While I waited for the owner to reach back out I continued to take the batteries in & out. 25 minutes later I was able to get the lock to work. Felt like 25 hours. 31 minutes later the owner did reach back out, immediately apologized, offered to send her little sister over to look at the lock, & give me a $50 credit. With the sketchiness of the neighborhood and lock leaving the house unescapable, I just packed up and left whether or not the owner would refund me. The owner did graciously refund the remaining days which was the right thing to do. I feel bad for leaving this review bc the owner is so sweet but even with the lock being fixed I would not stay here due to neighborhood.
