Historic restored home on 8.5 acres, beautiful setting with wild life including deer, white heron, fox turtle and rabbits. Fully furnished home with 6 bedrooms with new sheets, linens and comforters. 3 full bathrooms with private entrance, full kitchen with sunroom dinning. TV and stereo with internet. Three porches with barbecue. We also have a 3 fire pit. Historic home established in 1870 with the history of doctors community medical process. We have kayaks, sand volleyball court and 7 minutes away from sea glass beach. The house has brand new plumbing, septic with a new electric stove, brand-new dish washing machine. Fire detectors are installed throughout the house. Brand new beach chairs, beach umbrella and beach towels that you can use for free. The house spent $70,000 in restoring this beautiful house. The house is huge and it can accommodate 3 families. We have 3 new restaurants in the Island that you can visit and enjoy your food. Across the house there's a Marina called PL. Jones boat Marina. I'll provide citronella candles for the mosquitos. We have everything you need. Come and visit and enjoy!

Very disappointing

Overall this location experience was just awful. Two days before check in I had not been given the access information. When reaching out to the owner Chris to touch base, he informed me that he had no knowledge of my booking, even though I had booked in December. He seemed extremely irritated and belligerent that I had booked his property, and proceeded to tell me it wasnt available. Communication was uncomfortable and I ended up reaching out to VRBO directly to get access information and was advised to use the chat within the app to communicate, that way there was proof of access being denied in order to get my full refund. After Chris was made aware of this, he then provided the information. Upon arrival the property was nothing like the pictures. There were mosquitoes and other bugs in the house. It was dirty, like no one had cleaned between guests. One morning there was dead cricket in bed when we woke up. The fire pits were not there as boasted. The floors were creaky and unstable. The downstairs bathtub wasn't even connected, so there was no place for my parents to shower given it was the only bathroom on the first floor. The tvs werent working. The wifi only worked in the same room as the router. Im sure at one time the property was beautiful. The pictures posted show that. The overall location was nice and quiet. Ive been using VRBO for years and this was the worst experience I've had with hosts and properties. It was just very disappointing for the family.

Disgusting, embarrassing and deplorable home

This property listing is misleading. The house is deplorable and cannot be lived in. It literally rained inside the house. The house is full of mold inside and out. There are no trashcans. The refrigerator doesn't work there is no outside lighting as depicted in the pictures. No lounge chairs. No firepit. It is infested with ants and bugs. The owner is unprofessional and doesn't lock the house. There is a window missing still to this date. We were unable to eat off the dishes due to mold. Theres no working smoke detectors. No tv or internet the owner is unprofessional

Our family was left feeling quite catfished by this listing after we arrived and found a host of details that were not as advertised. The listing shows several things like a fire table and lounge chairs that were nowhere to be found. Disappointing, but we could overlook that if it were not for the multitude of other issues that arose during our stay. The claw foot bathtub was not even usable since the plumbing had been disconnected. Upstairs we found an AC unit outside the bathroom had burnt off one of the prongs of its power cord and left a significant scorch mark on the outlet. We were told this happened the day before and that a new unit would be brought by which never happened. However after looking at previous reviews we found that this had been mentioned at least a month before by a previous renter. When we tried to connect to the wifi, the login page told us the account had been suspended. When we told the host about it he said that his accounts had been compromised and that he would contact the provider the next day. We never did get TV/Wifi (which in one respect was nice but still unexpected and frustrating when it was billed as a feature of the property). It took us 21 phone calls to receive a response from the host which came in the form of a voicemail accusing us of being complainers, which we are very much not. The floors did feel quite sketchy in spots. The final straw was the missing window which we found during a storm. We will NEVER be staying here again.

Great Family Vacation

This was an amazing property with lots of space and things to do on it. We had a great time there. Close to the river and fishing. Definitely a place to stay away from the city.

House needs improvements

I am not one to give bad reviews, I hate complaining, but I cannot let another family stay here until the floors are improved. We were worried at anytime that someone would fall through the floor. The floor was bad in several spots throughout the house (laundry room, bathroom, top stair, by bedrooms, etc. the bathroom downstairs was not hooked up. There was ants in the kitchen. There was no window in the dinning room, just wide open letting in bugs and the air out. There was mold in several areas. The bathroom floor leaked through to the downstairs one time. The to stair was very weak. One bedroom upstairs was very unleveled from the house leaning. The AC unit in the hallway when hooked up starting smoking. The AC in one room didn't have the side vents properly installed. A few beds had dog hair on them so we had to go buy our own bedding to use. The grass was not cut. On a positive the beds are new and very comfortable. There is plenty of room for a big family. The area is safe.

Family of the groom wedding week end

I arrived on time and the house wasn't cleaned. Christopher, the owner, was there. I told him I would return to check in 2 hours later. When I came back at 5:00 I cleaned for 2 more hours. There isn't enough space to leave how dirty this house was and all the issues. I messaged Christopher to call me but he just left a note while we were out and ant spray. I left another note at check out, nothing from Christopher still.

Do not recommend

The house is very large and has nice original features. However, I question if this house is even structural sound and safe to be in. When someone, even a young child, was walking across the floors everything in the room would shake and things put on tables would fall off. The exterior doors were not able to be locked and all had large gaps allowing cold air to come pouring in. The interior doors would not close without using a doorstop or chain lock. There were multiple spots on the bathroom floor that you could have stepped through and broke through the subfloor, but these were covered with rugs. The heating in the house was very inconsistent. Some rooms were so hot windows had to be opened even when it was 30 degrees out while other rooms were freezing. The bathtub stopper upstairs did not work and would not allow the tub to fill with water. The coffee pot in the kitchen would not brew. When arriving the owner was on property and there was somebody in the roof replacing shingles. We were not notified of this ahead of time. We were told that a strong wind ripped off singles but the damage looked more severe than just wind. There were spots of mold on ceilings. Although there is internet it was unable to be used for anything including the smart TV upstairs. The house also had 4 TVs but you were only able to watch 2 shows on the TVs at a time. Cell reception for Verizon and T-Mobile were very poor.

The Time We Went to Fishing Creek

downstairs common rooms were clean and decorated beautifully mosquitoes were a nightmare 5 bedrooms upstairs aka 5 couples had to share 2 bathrooms. one bedroom downstairs had to take a hike across to the other side of the house to use the bathroom which was adjacent from the kitchen despite any deficiencies we made it all work and had a great time

Amazing end-of-summer getaway

What a wonderful stay we had! The house was so comfortable with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy each other's company. We enjoyed the brisk mornings on the porch and the gorgeous sunsets in the evenings. Very comfortable beds and linens. The scenery and landscape in the area are breathtaking. Every turn provided another incredible view of the water. Fishing Creek is close to so many beautiful, quaint towns along the Chesapeake Bay. Highly recommend!

Relaxing Getaway

Had a fun family getaway with our kids and their families. The house was perfect for the 11 of us. Enough space if you want to gather or go off on your own. Not a lot to do on the island but adults were able to relax while the kids rediscovered things like outdoor games, watching the bunnies and deer, fishing, and playing board games. Highly suggest going into Cambridge for the small shops and ghost tour.

Stay at Shultz Estate

The house is beautiful. It is stocked with games (indoor and outdoor) and books as well as firewood to make an outside fire. There were also lots of towels and, unlike some rentals, every bathroom was had plenty of toilet paper and hand soap. The neighborhood is very quiet so don't expect to do a lot of activities nearby. There are kayaks at the home but nothing with which to transport them.

Family Reunion

This large house was perfect to house our family of 13. Plenty of bedrooms and many options for common areas so we could be together or in small groups. Also had three great porches to enjoy outside. The porches overlook large yards with outdoor play space for little kids. Owners were responsive and prompt with needs.

Friends Vacation

A great place for a large group! We had 9 adults, 1 infant, and 2 dogs and had plenty of space for everyone. Our host was excellent with communication and we felt well cared for 🙂 Two notes for planning. The area is a little more remote so pack accordingly. Also, bring bug spray! The flies can be nasty.

Perfect for a family

We held a family reunion at the house with 11 adults ranging in age from 55 to 90. We were interested in the area for its surrounding attractions We chose the house because of its curb appeal, the number of bedrooms it offers, and very reasonable price. The house has the requisite number of bedrooms and plentiful space for people to cook, eat and spend time together, both inside and outside. Of the three bathrooms, the two with showers are upstairs and in high demand, which was our only complaint, but we made it work. The house was clean and communication with the hosts seamless. Window air conditioners provided respite from the heat. The kitchen has sufficient support for shared meals and cooking. There are many places to sit outside and many activities to keep all ages engaged. We very much enjoyed the Harriet Tubman National Park and Black Water Refuge both nearby, several visits to Cambridge and dinner at Old Salty’s.

Great Family Weekend

This property was great for our extended family of 8 and could have comfortably accommodated more. The old charm of the house was enjoyed by all. Great kitchen, functioning bbq, large dining room table and a fire pit for us all to enjoy. The sunset was beautiful as we sat outside in the evening. Wifi is available but it is limited so some online activities may not always be possible - but not a bad thing when you are spending time with family.

Great House for Large Groups

This house is great for large groups with plenty of comfortable bedrooms, three bathrooms (note one is only a tub, no shower), and loads of outdoor seating and fire options. This is an old farmhouse, so quirks of an old wooden house on the Eastern shore come with that. Personal bug spray at this property is essential as the mosquitos are very intense. The owner did stop by to give us a lawn spray for them but we did not use it as I am a master naturalist and community garden manager who is against broad spectrum insecticides that effect all insects, not simply mosquitos. If you have a car large enough to carry them or a rack, there are a four kayaks at this property in various conditions along with some life jackets and paddles. We had to work to get things out of the garage then give everything a cleaning but we got it done. There is an extra refrigerator in the garage as well along with a bike (just needs some cleaning), and lots of other recreational items like balls, gloves, a basball bat, soccer ball, etc. If I stayed on the island again, I would likely try for a waterfront property to be have easier access to the water and less mosquitoes from the bay breeze but it was a nice introduction to the area with a group of friends.

Delightful old farmhouse

Our second visit to this beautiful old house, and it was lovely. The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays and very comfortable. The hosts are very accommodating and helped us out to make sure we had everything we needed. Really enjoyed sitting out on the porches in the evening and usually spotted a few deer.

Perfect Get Away

This was a perfect get away. The house was great for our group; it was cozy and I loved the kitchen, The location is secluded but very accessible. Everyone had a relaxing holiday. I gave 4 stars for communication due to a mishap re: an acknowledgement vs. a complaint. Resolved but should not have happened. Also, it might help to add an extender so that the internet works throughout the house. Some rooms are too far from the router. Other than that, we had a great time and definitely recommend to others.

Loved having porches on all sides of the house to relax on in the evening. We heard and saw sika deer and the breeze and view was lovely. The house had everything we needed to cook up soft crabs and the furniture and beds were very comfy. The big claw foot tub was great too! It was more than enough space in a cool old farmhouse. We would definitely like to come back here.
