Nice view but...

Pros: great view, ample room, pet friendly ,convenient to the Boone NC area. CONS: If this was my property and I have a cleaning service to keep the house clean, I would fire them in a heartbeat! We should NOT have to sweep, wash dishes and silverware when we arrived. Food crumbs everywhere and I mean everywhere! That invites rodents ( YEP). On the big Plus side, howls can be heard and morning walks wild turkeys gobbling!

Tranquil location with spectacular views

My family stayed here over Christmas break, and it was exactly what I needed. I could have spent all day on the deck, soaking in the breathtaking long-range mountain views. We encountered a few minor issues, none of which were the hosts’ fault, and they were incredibly helpful and accommodating in resolving them. The hosts were highly communicative and made us feel like the space was truly ours. Please note that the road leading into the neighborhood includes a newly rebuilt, single-lane bridge that allows only one vehicle to cross at a time. The road up to the house is an unpaved gravel road, but despite the weather conditions we experienced (which did not include snow), my two-wheel-drive SUV had no trouble making the trip. They even had a small tree set up with a bin of ornaments for us to decorate as a family. The location is just a 15-20 minute drive to Boone or West Jefferson, both charming towns that we enjoyed exploring during our stay. We also had a blast playing ping pong, air hockey, and darts. One of my favorite activities is traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway to take in the views. While a large portion was still closed for hurricane cleanup, we were able to access it to reach Grandfather Mountain. Although I would have loved to explore more of the Parkway, I was thankful that part of it was open for us to enjoy.I would absolutely stay here again and wholeheartedly recommend this place to my friends!

One Of The Best

This is one of the best VRBO rentals we have rented. The view from the three porches always drew your attention with all of the changing conditions…from sunny to misty to rainy and at sunset. The house is beautifully appointed and is located in a very quiet neighborhood. The mattresses were so comfortable. The river can be viewed from the back porch and there is a local restaurant by the river where we dined twice and enjoyed good food. It is about a 20-25 minute drive into Boone with so much to view along the way. We hope to return next summer.

Mountain retreat

This picturesque setting of this cozy cabin made for a very relaxing and rejuvenating escape from the Lowcountry heat and humidity. The drive to Boone and Blowing Rock along the parkway gave opportunities for short hikes with our dogs. This dog friendly property, complete with fenced exercise and play yard, makes a great getaway.

Perfect Mountain Getaway!

Its stunning mountain-top setting made for a peaceful, beautiful getaway. We spent time on the great back porch overlooking the valley listening to the wild turkeys in the yard and sporadic rain on the roof. The house was perfect for the two of us but can easily accommodate more. It was very clean and well-appointed. The owners have tried to think of everything and have created a special spot in the mountains of North Carolina.

What a magical place to celebrate Mother’s Day! We really enjoyed all the special touches and attention to detail at this property. The kids loved the bunk room and the toy space in the loft. Wonderful and much needed getaway!

I organized a women's retreat for some ladies at my church and we had the BEST time. There were 5 of us and it was plenty of room. We arrived just before a huge windstorm and so it was colder than what we were hoping for but it didn't matter because the gas fireplace warmed us up quickly! Elisabeth was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with. Everything was so well put together, the ladies kept commenting on how beautiful the place was and one of them has a fondness for Outlander so all the little details from the book and TV show were not lost on us! We spent Saturday afternoon in West Jefferson- we went to the spice and tea shop- a MUST, there is also Ashe Cheese Factory which is so fun- they have shimmering wine, ice cream and fun candy as well as some really great cheese selections. We ate at the New River Brewery and if you like pimento cheese, they had a really good one you can order with the pretzels- SO GOOD! We will be back- honestly, I am pretty sure some of the women will be back with their families because this place is totally kid and pet friendly- it's in a perfect spot drivable to many destinations. I love it here! Thank you for letting us stay :) We spent the evening hanging out in the living room- it was

Very cozy with lovely views

We had a wonderful weekend stay at this cabin. It is in a great location close to lots of options for hiking and other attractions. The house itself is also so comfortable and peaceful with so many amenities, it is a great place to spend time and enjoy the lovely views in all directions. The furnishings are very cozy with so many special touches, you can tell a lot of thought and care has been put in to it. We appreciated that the kitchen was very functional and well stocked with the essentials. Very detailed information was provided about the house and the surrounding area, too, which was helpful. We hope to come back again!
