Lovely canon on a wooded site.
Great place with great hosts. Itâs a wonderful place to relax and explore. Niagara Falls is just minutes away. So are the Lake Erie beaches, which will amaze people who donât know about the crystal clear water. We also made overnight outings to Toronto (which most big American cities would love to emulate) and the Muskoka Lakes region about three hours north of Fort Erie. As a history nut I was fascinated by the amazing amount of early American history that happened along the Niagara Frontier. Most of the fighting in the War of 1812 between the Americans and the British and their Canadian and Indian allies happed within 50 miles of the canon. Old Fort Erie, the site of two Yankee invasions, tis well worth a visit. Some of the massive maple trees on the fort grounds were there durin the battles 212 years ago. There are also many excellent restaurants in the area, and plenty of modern supermarkets for Dyi meals.
