This is a functional farm complete with goats, chickens, ducks and the cutest donkey ever! Our stay here wasn't long at all, as we were on a road trip to several states. We arrived late and were a little confused on where to enter, as this is the BACK half of the main house. Once we figured that out and got unpacked we looked around and settled in. The cleanliness was lacking, but I told myself this IS a farmhouse. The wifi didn't work for us, so we just used our cell service. As I said, this was a short stay so it didn't hinder us too greatly. There are other renters on this property, which is clearly stated on the listing, but I think visitor rules would go a long way to help ensure the comfort of all visitors...such as not blocking driveways of other rental spaces with cars, and keeping ALL dogs on leashes rather than allowing them to roam free. I hope this host is able to have a successful run with this listing. He was very kind, helpful and considerate.
The actual house was lovely, and check-in went fine. The owner encouraged us to enjoy the animals. Near the donkey pen, I tripped over rusty green fencing sticking approximately 5 feet out from enclosure, laying partially on the ground (blending in with the grass), and cut my leg and toe in 3 places. I contacted my doctor, and my husband had to go out and get first aid supplies. I never heard back from the owner regarding what happened, even after I sent a follow-up question on this incident.
This was a nice little place. Comfortable, away from the city but still close enough to not have to drive too far for anything. Communication with the host is excellent; very prompt and efficient. I would just use caution on I guess it would be like the "back" stairway (the one by the laundry room)-- it's a little slippery. I've slipped a little twice on them even when I was being careful. Maybe like some kind of runner might be helpful, but they don't go straight up so not sure if that's possible. I would just suggest going down on the main stairwell. I was fine with the heaters too; there's several space heaters for heat but I'm used to those. The kitchen is amazingly stocked. You'll find just about everything you can think of there. Overall, I had a great time going out to hike in the mornings and then going back and resting and reading there.
It's isolated, but it's quiet, peaceful, and large enough to accommodate the group I was with. The owner was also very communicative & kept the place real clean when we arrived. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a place in Fredericksburg. Also, the farm animals were awesome to check out!
For the price I payed I expected heat, we had two babies in the home. There are little heaters in the house in each room but it just didnât hold as well as i would have liked it. The kids loved seeing and petting the animals.
We have a family of 5 (with 3 little kids), so the size was perfect for our family to have all the basic sleeping arrangements, living area, kitchen. The kids all REALLY enjoyed checking out the farm animals. It was a great little home. away from home. It
The host was great and very accommodating. The animals were great to see, especially for pur 1 year old granddaughter. We will definitely be back and might bring more family next time. Depending on the time of year it is, if you're really looking forward to the swimming pool i would probably ask ahead of time if it will be ready to go into at the time of your stay.
Great location to the Civil War battlefields. We liked the farm setting and seeing the animals. It was nice and quiet and clean. The front entry way porch could use some tidying up. But overall was a great experience!
