We checked into the house and it was 82 degrees. Called the owner and she said the A/C was down two weeks ago and "thought" it was repaired. By that evening it was 85 degrees in the house. Owner (Karen) said she was going to have an A/C person come by and look at the unit. We stayed up until 11pm and no one came. Karen also promised to credit us the night because of the A/C issue. When it came time to checkout, Karen and her property manager Marco realized that they did not charge use the 2nd half of the stay. They begged me to pay it and stated that when I pay it they will credit me back the first night via Venmo b/c they couldn't do it through VRBO. I paid them the full amount and then they ghosted me and have not communicated with me or credited back the first night. THEY LIE AND I WOULD NOT STAY HERE!!
We spent a fun weekend at this property. Having lived in the area for 16 years I have driven by this gem countless times, always admiring it but I could never have imagined how nice, how peaceful a property it is. It's conveniently located close to everything but nestled away for privacy. The game room was a hit, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen well-stocked with everything you need for meals. I highly recommend it and will be glad to stay here again. Cheers!
We had a great time being able to visit family who live in the area. The cabin was 20 minutes from my brother and his family and 20 minutes to my nephews house. We loved the fact that it seemed like we were in the country and not in town. The yard and the fire pit was a huge hit with us. The Tulip Festival was amazing. Thank you again.
The location of the cabin was very convenient, however very noisy. The train is nearby and you will hear it as you try to sleep. We appreciated all the amenities provided. Blankets would be helpful as the downstairs gets cold and the comforter is thin. Beds were comfortable and slept well.
If I could give the property 10 stars I would! The place was absolutely amazing. It was very clean and I loved the layout. This is the first time I stayed at a log cabin and we will definitely be back! Every time I sent a message to the owner she responded so quickly. We even were able to enjoy the fire pit. The boys absolutely loved the game room. It was things to do for the whole family which I enjoyed. I canât even really describe how comfy the beds were. One of the best beds Iâve slept in at a rental house. If youâre looking for a place to stay please consider them!
This house has been nicely done. The pictures and description are accurate. It did show a close proximity to the road but I still was a little disappointed just how much road traffic you can hear at night. It is well equipped with paper products, soap, even coffee and tea. It was clean (except for the light fixtures) and the beds comfortable. They do have some sort of issue with some septic smell in the one bathroom. It wasn't a super big deal, we just used showers in the other bathrooms. The property mangers emails were experiencing a glitch and I received confirmations for other properties, and emails stating I would still owe a pet fee after it was a line item in my VRBO receipt. I also had visit two additional apps or webpages to submit ID. I thought it a bit excessive but I haven't stayed in a VRBO in awhile, maybe that is just how it is now. Fredericksburg is a great little town and the house was in a convenient location to all we wanted to do.
Good location, close to town and other attractions yet secluded. Very much enjoyed the outdoor space as well as the indoor. Would highly recommend this cabin as a rental when visiting Fredericksburg and surrounding areas.
This cabin worked nice for our visit to the area. The hot tub was great. It was a little too hot to play in the game room very long. The spiral staircase is a little hard but there is the option to go down on the outside staircase. Overall we loved the stay.
Cute place, quiet property. Our stay started very warmâŠ.. AC was set to 72-74 but at times would not get below 78 degrees. If you use the kitchen it was 80 on the main floor. We were greeted by wet laundry in the washer and the dryer going with sheets, towels. If you have anyone older or handicapped in any way they would not be able to get down the spiral stairs to the bottom floor with broken hand railing. One of our family members almost fell to the floor trying to sit down in a chair that was broken in the kitchen. The couch downstairs has a broken arm.
Our host did not always respond in a timely manner and has yet to get back to me on messages I sent after check out as well. The AC issue, I was told, was not fixable. The upstairs front bedroom was too warm to sleep in at all. We were told the âhvac guysâ came out there but we were not notified anyone would be in the house when we were not there. We had our dog with us. I was told we would get a ârefundâ because of the warm temperatures in the house and unusable bedroom but have not been communicated with since the day after we left.
The proximity of the property to downtown Fredricksburg was awesome. The property with large outdoor fire pit and hot tub is quiet and nice. The inside of the house could have used a better cleaning.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin, with everyone in the family, including my 16-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter, expressing delight. The cabin was impeccably beautiful both inside and out, equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. Notably, it was spotlessly clean and offered a range of entertainment options. The hot tub was pristine, and every room exuded charm. While our only minor critique would be the limitation to a kids' Netflix account, which made it challenging to enjoy a movie of our choice during rainy weather, this didn't overshadow our overall positive experience. Despite encountering a slight hiccup with one game, it didn't dampen our enjoyment. If we find ourselves back in Virginia, this cabin would undoubtedly be our top choice for accommodation.
The property location with easy access to historic downtown and Stafford County is one of its best features. I would recommend it only for groups of fully abled adults and older children. No bedroom on main level means lots of stairs to navigate. The spiral staircase to basement level is especially tight. We had to bring our suitcases down by walking them around the exterior of the house. Also, the house uses plug ins everywhere and heavily scented fabric detergent / softener - not great for those with sensitivities.
My husband and I were finishing a journey to all the Marian churches in the Diocese of Arlington. We had a lovely stay that allowed us to finish the Marian pilgramage on the final day of the church year. It was a lovely base for other types of visits, such as Civil War buffs and George Washington historians.
My family and I arrived to the home around 9pm from the airport. Some of the door entrances in the back of the home were covered in dead bugs. The rest of the home was very clean though. However Iâm fairly certain the bugs were there for awhile.
My family loved this property! The amenities were great- we enjoyed the game room, the fire pit, and the hot tub. Super convenient for enjoying downtown Fredericksburg.
The primary bedroom does have some ambient noise so Iâd recommend a white noise machine for light sleepers.
Loved our stay at this beautiful property!
Our stay in this lovely cabin Aug. 21-23 could not have been more relaxing and comfortable as a staging site to move our daughter into the University of Mary Washington. It's a short walk across the river from Old Town Fredericksburg. Three comfortable bedrooms, three nice bathrooms and if you're up for it, a hot tub and fire pit. It was too hot for us to use these, but would be lovely in fall. But clean, clean, clean, and the host is responsive and kind. Recommended cafes and eateries listed in the kitchen -- excellent, all. We'll return when visiting our student! Recommend.
This was a great location, spacious, nicely furnished, with two living spaces as well as the bedrooms, one on the main floor and the other on the lower level. The bathrooms were excellent and we loved the amenities. It was easy to access the key and we were delighted, arriving late and tired to find a nice bottle of wine. The only difficulties were with non-functioning wi-fi and the circular stairs to the lower level, which would have been a problem with a toddler, except that there is an outside door to the lower level. The property manager responded quickly to our communication about the wi-fi, but it was never corrected. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend the Black Log Cabin.
The Host Karen was great. She went beyond what was expected to make our stay a great one. We loved the proximity to town. Just a short walk to shops, restaurants, and train.
Such a cute little house. I want to live here!! We walked to downtown, got in the hot tub, and made smores and relaxed around the fire pit. Highly recommend staying here and we will definitely book again! Thanks to Karen who was a text away and helped us with our stay, you're wonderful!
Our family of 4 found this to be a nice, comfortable, well-located cabin. It was a nice, short walk over the bridge to historic Fredericksburg where there were plenty of good restaurants and coffee shops and shopping opportunities. My husband and adult sons enjoyed a few of the disc golf courses around, Cannon Ridge and Loriella particularly. And the hot tub made for a nice end of the day!
