Love these condos. Stayed in a different condo on the Homestead in 2022 and had a good experience however this time there was a critter problem. Mice poop everywhere in the condo we rented. The mice activity was so loud one night they woke me up just before 4am one morning. We have kids and this health hazard was very concerning for us. Mice poop on the kitchen counters, stove, and all over the floors and carpets⊠They moved us after multiple complaints. The second condo was beautiful but unfortunately there was also apparently a mice problem there too⊠mice poop in the decorative trays in the common area and to accompany that there was a dead animal smell along the north wall near the couch and where the dining room table is.
The worst unit weâve ever stayed in and no response from Vacasa. Stay elsewhere.
SO disappointed with this unit and Vacasaâs failure to respond to our concerns during our stay. Been vacationing in Glen Arbor & The Homestead for 30 years. This unit was the filthiest and least-suitable for a family vacation of any weâve ever stayed. The plus side is that it made leaving and going home a lot easier. We booked late and had low expectations and knew this was âbudget friendlyâ. Budget-friendly doesnât mean disrepair and filthy. Highlights:Super dirty - especially the linoleum on the first floor (kitchen/dining/half bath) - looked like it hadnât been cleaned in years and we wore sandals on it. See photo of the one âtileâ and grout I started to clean. Mouse droppings and dirty throughout. Carpet having two strips of âbubblingâ in it making a tripping hazard.Paneling in dining area buckling. Refrigerator main compartment didnât work - took two days to cool down and even then wasnât very cold. Rusted out hinges, metal blinds, shower curtain hooks (and salt and pepper!?) due to how damp all three levels of the unit constantly were. One barely functioning tv (the other had a cord missing and wouldnât work. ONE ceiling fan on upper level (not ceiling fan(S)). Gross and dirty furniture - what little they had. Broken kitchen table. Light switches and outlets that didnât workPoorly appointed kitchen where what little they had was very old, dirty, broken and cheap.Goodwill wouldnât take most of what was in this place.
We loved our family New years up North. The Homestead allows for extended family to join, renting their own place within walking distance, on the well kept grounds at The Homestead. We enjoyed sledding, skiing, and meeting out at restaurants all within walking distance on the property.
Loved the location. Condo was clean and well supplied. The appliances could use an update and the paneling in the kitchen eating area was damaged and in need of repair. Loved the screened in porch and the porch that wasn't screened in. Great place to catch up after a fun day. We would stay again.
