My stay at Gold Beach

Nice staff. Accommodated me by giving me a better room due to my inability to climb stairs. The view was amazing. Spacious room. The room was a bit stuffy in the evening, but a fan was provided.

Had to pay extra for advertised “all ocean view rooms” All three “ocean view hot tubs” were not working. Paths to ocean were overgrown/not kept. Room fan was so dirty it was unusable. We chose this site specifically for the hot tubs as I have a neck problem and specifically for the ocean view rooms. Had to go ask 3 times for towels. Room had 1 bath, hand, and wash cloth. Almost felt like bait and switch.

The towels were gray (and supposed to white, i guess?). The pillowcases were also gray. The shower curtain rod was rusty. Would not recommend staying here.

Upon arriving the staff person was new and almost messed up my reservation, I asked for a downstairs unit since I just had a knee replacement, they could not accommodate me , usually places have no issues putting me in a bottom unit , they said you can pay extra, which was almost the price of another room. No elevator . The hot tub was out of order and it certainly was not noted in making the reservation. Nice access to the beach , it was a ways to walk but for a person with mobility restrictions, it was an in between walk . The beach was beautiful as long as you can walk to it . Breakfast they did not have enough food to serve everyone options were limited. Overall it was a decent place to stop for a night of sleep.

Will be requesting refund. Originally booked a 2 queen room for my partner and our 2 boys. Boys didn’t want to come so I called and asked to swap to a simple king. Person I talked to said that shouldn’t be a problem but there would be a $40 up charge, this was fine. The person I talked to said they were putting us into a king, top floor, ocean view and gave me the new price. When I checked in the next day the room I was told was reserved for me the day prior was “not available” and “there’s no note from anyone about the room change” which was weird considering the upcharge was on the reservation. The hot tubs were “out of service” which was part of why we had booked at that particular location. At this point, I was frustrated and without prompting, we were “upgraded” to a different location. This location was filthy, and the balcony and entry walkway were rotting through the wood. I will NEVER book with that hotel again.

Dirty, run down, stay away

Don't stay here. Very dirty and unkept. Didn't have the room we booked, had to pay an upcharge, plus the hottubs are not working. Clearly haven't been for quite a while. No estimate as to when they will. Of course, Hotels.com doesn't let you know that.

Got to the property around 6:30 to check in, got to the office and it was closed. Rang the bell on the office door, called them multiple times, no answer. Contacted Expedia and they tried to contact the property multiple times with no response. Ended up getting a refund and going to Jot’s Resort instead, and very happy we did.
