Awesome hotel

Absolutely charming, centrality located, very comfortable, and nice and quiet. The hotel personnel are incredibly helpful and kind. The amenities are excellent and the breakfast is very generous. I really enjoyed my stay here and I will come back!

A truly lovely hotel. Beautiful rooms overlooking quiet courtyard, and a delicious breakfast with something for everyone. Walkable to everywhere. A real gem. Highly recommend.

Staff made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. Although the room is pretty small, the hotel is exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and staff were uniformly great. Breakfast was excellent. I would stay here again if I could. Andreas at the front desk was particularly helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Classic, 'old skool' independent hotel. Unpretentious but dignified. Fantastic breakfast buffet with fresh waffles! Tea and coffee and daily cake for guests in the lobby. Would certainly recommend. Close to the station. A lot of building/road works going on but that seems to be the case for all of Gothenburg.

Great location from the central train station. The staffs were very polite and likable. The inside of the hotel was decorated with excellent designs and furniture. The facilities of the building seemed a bit old but were maintained in excellent conditions. The breakfast was also nice. Highly recommend.

Missing a few things

It is hard to imagine a 9.6 rating for Hotel Royal. It was clean, and nice, and our premium room was large. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants and shopping, as well as the train station. Breakfast was homemade and lovely. But (1) there isn’t a refrigerator in the room, so we couldn’t have any cold drinks or buy our favorite berries or hummus to supplement our breakfast. (2) There is no kettle in the room, so upon waking or heading to bed, you must get dressed and go to the lobby for coffee or tea, which is inconvenient. (3) There isn’t a laundromat, even though it is advertised as having one. And, (4) It is the only hotel we have been in that has a relationship with a Fitness Center down the block, but doesn’t provide you with a voucher to work out - it costs YOU over $12 for one visit, which is insulting at the rate we paid for our room. So, it was okay, but we missed those four items.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and classy. Every single member of their staff is friendly, warm and polite. Their breakfast rates 5 stars. The cleanliness of our room, the halls, reception and social areas was the best I’ve seen throughout our travels. Hands down - my favorite hotel. Wow!

Gem of a hotel

The location couldn’t have been better as it’s easy to walk to many restaurants and shops with the train station, trams and buses close by. The hotel building has character with plenty of period features, spectacular staircase and eclectic style. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was plentiful with a good selection. We also really appreciated the drinks and cake in the lounge. It was lovely to sit in a comfy chair and relax after a day’s sightseeing. Staff were always friendly and helpful

A fantastic stay but as an old hotel, there can be white a walk to get the room so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues. You also have to leave your key at reception any time you go out and ask for it back every time you come back in which is unusual but the desk was always staffed so had no issues there, it's just something to keep in mind. Lovely coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cake available in the lobby and at breakfast. Very helpful and I'm knowledgeable staff. Five minutes walk from the train and bus station.

What an amazing hotel. The staff was super friendly, the room was beautiful and spacious, and the tea and cake upon arrival was just the sweetest thing. The breakfast was hearty. All around a great stay in the heart of Gothenburg!
