We were happy with the size of the house and the yard for our two dogs. The house was clean and well ordered. There were signs of wear and tear on the home itself, with a rather rickety stair rail and low water pressure in the upstairs bathroom. However, overall, it is a good house, very comfortable.
Just a few minutes from downtown GR, perfect location for us. The house is a standard older Grand Rapids home, so it has its own like quirks and character. The kitchen had everything we needed, enjoyed the dining room and family room for playing board games. The host was responsive and helpful, would recommend
The house was old. It was decorated cutely but the beds were very uncomfortable. We had a problem with the door locking and it prevented us from being about to go to breakfast because we didnât want to leave the house and our stuff inside with the door unlocked. For the price we paid for one night which was 497 we expected a much newer nice place.
Decent, pet friendly rental home in a safe neighborhood
We were happy to rent, and be allowed to bring our pet birds. It was very clean and there was great contact and easy access. They were open to feedback about the squeaky bed and hard couch, open to possible future replacement of at least one item. The bathrooms and shower are good. Supplies were good; kitchen fine. We visited the amazing botanic gardens, and there is also a zoo within a few blocks. We were close to orchards and picked up delicious apples. We were in the area for my husband's music gig, and although it is an older, basic home we would visit again and stay here.
We enjoyed the short time we spent here. Nice neighborhood area that felt safe.
The house is older, but we enjoyed the character. It would be nice to have a more homey feel, it definitely feels more like a rental. There should be more shelves to place things and hooks for towels etc. would stay again if weâre in the area!
It smelled like someone had been cooking when we first arrived. You immediately see curtains in front of the basement stairs, separating it from the rest of the house.
Even after turning on all the lights, it was dimly lit. Universal remote had no back and ultimately did not work in living room so we had no sound on the main tv the first day. They brought a new remote the next day.
No window covering on window in bathroom or window that leads to bed rooms. It feels too exposed. There are not places to put your things in the bedrooms, like a dresser. Very plain.
Tub had bathmat stains that are not removable by cleaning. The next day felt better after settling in. But Iâm just accustomed to feeling immediately comfortable when I rent a nice house. It needs better smells and presentation. Being clean is the bare minimum. I really liked that the bathroom had a heating option.
It was not a bad home, itâs just seems the photos are better than the home and it felt more like staying with your aunt than a VRBO.
This is a large, older house in a nice, convenient area of Grand Rapids. The house was clean and had a fenced in area for our dog. Overall, we had a good stay and were glad we had a warm place to stay as Grand Rapids got 15 inches of snow, but there were some hiccups. It was obvious that this place has been set up for rental; it was not a place the owner had lived. Furnishings were spare and utilitarian. In particular, there are few flat surfaces other than the dining table to put things on and in. I had expected cable television because every place I had previously rented had cable, but upon careful reading of the listing, it lists smart TVs. There were 4 smart TVs in the house--one in the living room and in three of the four bedrooms. However, we had difficulties using them as the remote for the living room TV was not working and we were not particularly knowledgeable about using smart TVs without instructions/channel information. The blizzard and holiday hours made it more difficult for the owner to rectify the situation. It was particularly bothersome not to be able to get local news for information about the weather.
The location did leave a little to be desired since it is close to the rougher neighborhoods downtown. I would also bring your own water or a water filter since the house is on a water line with lead pipes.
I only stayed for one night but the host is very responsive and the neighborhood is very quiet. Plenty of beds in the upstairs bedrooms, 7 in total, and lots of space on the first floor.
Overall the experience was nice though we were expecting a little more carpet area specially in the rooms which was a bit congested. Also. One of the room do not have cooling vent so a bit hot over night. Anyway, really enjoyed the overall stay specially the deck, halls and kitchen spaces..
The place was super conveniently located by the downtown area which made it very easy for our group. We were also very grateful to be able to bring our 2 dogs who loved the fenced in area! The owner was very easy to reach throughout if we had questions and made the check in/out process smooth. Would definitely recommend!!
