This little bungalow is clean, quiet and very comfortable. We happened to be there during the most amazing lightning storm which was great to view from the wide deck. The air conditioning was such a great amenity after having a lot of sun exposure. The property was a little off the beaten path, so I might not recommend staying here if you need to constantly do activities in downtown grass valley, yuba river, nevada city and need to go home frequently for naps, work, or outfit changes. But it is perfect if you like to laze around in the morning, head out to your activities at a comfortable pace, pack in your activities back to back and return afterwards to some isolation and serenity. We didn't really walk around the property much or get to see the garden and chickens but would love to do that if we ever revisit.Friendly dog Leroy came over to greet us one morning. What a sweetheart. We didn't see any hummingbirds but did see many other species of birds and deer, and some adorable rabbits (possibly the owners).I would highly recommend relaxing on the outside lounger.

Beautiful and peaceful

My partner and I came to escape the grind of the city and enjoy some tranquility, and got exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful views galore, and a great place to bring the dogs for a relaxing weekend. There’s plenty of hiking, food and cute towns to visit. Great spot!

Perfect for Work and Relaxing

Hummingbird house is a calm, peaceful, and comfortable stay just 15 minutes from Grass Valley and Nevada City. I stayed for over a week with my dog, working remotely part time and then taking a tech-free vacation. The space is easy to work remote from, and my dog and I enjoyed walking around the roughly half mile loop around their property or heading out to go hiking (tons of dog friendly hikes nearby), reading in the shade, doing yoga on the porch and cooking in the kitchen. The farm fresh eggs and fresh flowers from the garden were such thoughtful touches. It feels very private and relaxing there. I would love to come back.

Lovely home in serene surroundings. Great place to rest, relax, read, and explore. Lots of birds and a couple of hares add to the ambiance. Fresh eggs from the hens and flowers from the garden make this a truly special place. Will definitely revisit when time allows. Thank you for sharing

Little Slice of Heaven

We had an amazing time at this place! It was truly such a beautiful spot, and a great place to unwind. Tal was super attentive as a host, and even brought us fresh eggs in the morning! He encouraged us to explore the property and felt genuinely very welcoming. The grounds themselves are quite beautiful and their gardens are incredible! I did get bit by a lot of mosquitoes so I'd bring a citronella candle next time! Would definitely come back here.

We had a great stay at the Hummingbird House! It was peaceful, quiet and a great place to unplug. There was convenient laundry on site and Tal and Audra were communicative and very kind and helpful. They even dropped off sweets for New Year’s Eve after asking if we had any dietary restrictions, which we do. Although the home feels secluded there is a grocery store as well as Petco only 15 minutes away. Downtown Grass Valley and Nevada City are fun to explore and also nearby! There is another property next door I believe, but we didn’t see the other guests and only heard them nearby once. We’d love to come back!

Serene Getaway

Was a perfect spot for a quiet fall study getaway for my daughter. Thoughtful little touches like fresh eggs from their chickens! Friendly and low key check-in and communication. Beautiful calm view, wildlife, and -of course - hummingbirds! Nevada City is close for a pleasant day outing. Was also a perfect spot for our high energy dog. She made friends, had fun walks, and got to hang out on the porch and in the yard. Will definitely keep on our favorites list for future getaways.

Beautiful, peaceful, private, and charming

The Hummingbird House offers a wonderful getaway. The place is comfortable and clean, and the hosts have stocked it with everything one needs - including fresh eggs from their chickens. The property is private and out it in country, yet close enough to easily go back and forth to town (or in our case, the Bluegrass Festival at the Fairgrounds). The view is incredible and the hosts couldn't be more welcoming or accommodating. We love the Hummingbird House!

Comfortable and Spacious

Hummingbird House is clean and spacious, and has pretty much everything you need. The views are very pretty and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy--with decking on three sides and lots of outdoor furniture and three sets of sliding doors. The only negative I would mention is that the laundry room is on the other side of the bedroom wall, so you can hear the washing machine when it is running and it was somewhat loud. Also, there is no TV, but if you want to watch TV (as we did) a laptop and your own streaming service works just fine. Internet was functional--a touch slow but that is common in rural areas. It's located about ten minutes from town by car, so you get a true country experience while still being close enough to all the Grass Valley shops and restaurants. The bed is large and quite comfortable, as is the sofa. There's a functional little work space, and the kitchen has everything you need, including a gas stove and full-size fridge. Note that the "bedroom" isn't an enclosed room, but has separation from the other areas of the cottage, so someone sleeping late likely would not be disturbed by activities in the kitchen or living room areas. Hummingbird House is a great value and very comfortable, and Tal and Audra are communicative and accommodating hosts. It was pretty close to perfect, and we would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Getaway

Cozy Getaway

We had a lovely stay at the Hummingbird House. The house was cozy and comfortable, especially the lovely bed. We got a great nights sleep. The host was friendly and a dog lover, which was great. We were able to walk around the property with our dog, and even in his old age he did a little chase with the host's dog, which was a treat for him. Would return again.

Quiet, beautiful home

Tal and Audra were really helpful in letting me check in early and letting me know I’d left something behind. The house is beautifully decorated on the inside and made for a really cute work from home space for me for a couple days! While not “downtown” in Grass Valley, the location is really pretty with very nice views and lots of wildlife, especially birds, and an easy 15 mins to the Main Street area in town. The house was well stocked and had a helpful guide for the area, which was super sweet of them to provide!
