We loved our own little private getway from the busy world. Everything was perfect: creek size, daily turkey vistors, apple trees full of apples, beautiful lodging. Can't wait to return!

You can’t go wrong staying at this beautiful Dogtrot Cabin!! Pictures do not do it justice! The cabin sits in a valley with a small creek across the way. Perfect pavilion with a fireplace that came in handy on those cold evenings. Very serene. The cabin itself is beautiful! Attention to detail in every way. Very clean and well maintained. The road to the cabin is not for the faint of heart. Very mountainous and curvy, but worth it!The owner/manager was quick in response with any concerns we had. We would definitely rent this beautiful cabin again in the future.
This weekend we got married at Roan Mountain and stayed at this cabin. We had two families staying here and we throughly enjoyed our stayed. It was a beautiful property and in an excellent location. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek and roasting marshmallows in the outdoor fireplace, while the adults enjoyed drinking coffee under the pavilion, listening to the fire crackle and the birds chirping. We hiked down the AT to Laurel Falls waterfall and enjoyed the day on Sunday exploring all the beauty nearby. The cabin itself was a perfect set up, clean, and so relaxing. We especially loved enjoying each others company and watching the kids use their imaginations outdoors without the distraction of television or electronics. It was a perfectly unplugged weekend! The hosts were wonderful to communicate with and extremely hospitable. We will definitely be re-booking the cabin for a future family trip.
My family and I stayed for 3 nights here and we really enjoyed the stay. Our goal was to disconnect to reconnect as a family and not did we! No signal whatsoever so we were definitely not on our phones. The house is so cozy and the outdoors just so relaxing. We fished, played board games, ping pong, played outdoors, made some s’mores, it was really nice. Areas of concern: the drive up can be very tedious, and I wish the stores were closer by. If you want to go out, there aren’t really many attractions. But if you want to stay in and just relax, this is the place for you!
Me and some friends stayed at the cabin for a couple of days on a fishing trip and were very pleased. I am used to short-term rentals looking great in photographs and then turning out to be poorly maintained dumps. This one was quite the opposite. It was clean, well provisioned, and in every way. We will stay here again! One note: the toilet paper could use a serious upgrade.
This property provides a restful get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Enjoy nature, splash in the Stream, hike to the waterfall, relax by the fire. Thank you for a great day!
It was my daughter in law (to be) birthday on Dec 11, and our son chose that evening to propose to her, so, needless to say, it was an incredible weekend to celebrate. The house was beautiful, and fit the bill, we really enjoyed to outdoor fireplace and pavilion. Thank you so much for a memorable get away.
This place is totally unplugged which was nice. Internet would have been great. Lol. House was amazing. Clean. Comfy. Love the creek infront of house. Love the outside area. Fully stocked house. The only negative is there is a huge bee wasp hornet bees problem. Lots of wasp nest in porch and fireplace area. Lots and lots nest buried in grass everywhere. The wasp issues is bad.
The property is situated beautifully with a creek to play in, very close proximity to the AT and an a lovely outside pavilion for eating meals outside. The beds are very comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. The kids sleeping area is up a long ladder and it's open to the noise of the kitchen/living area so have you have to go outside or be very quiet. Overall it was one of our favorites!
We loved our visit to this property. It was perfect for our family!
This was a beautiful place! Our family and my parents stayed for a long weekend to attend my oldest daughters pinning ceremony and graduation at East Tennessee State University. There was plenty of beds, lovely kitchen and living room and our favorite was the outdoor fireplace area. Everything we needed was there. We had evening fires, played games, cooked s’mores and just enjoyed visiting. The only thing that would have been nicer was if the grass had been cut before we arrived. We played a game of softball in the big open yard, which was loads of fun! It’s a great place we would loved to visit again.
This is a great place if you are looking for outside adventure and going off the grid. House was well stocked and outdoor space was wonderful The road in is sure to leaving you feeling like you went on nature’s roller coaster.
Remote and beautiful. Loved that the trailhead right next to the property. The fireplace was beautiful and we had a great time. Stay here again in a heartbeat!
Our family celebrated Easter at this beautiful cabin and loved every moment of it! If you’re interested in replacing the iPhone, WiFi and TV’s for laughter, conversation, nature, relaxation, privacy, making memories then don’t hesitate to book this beautiful oasis. The cabin layout was ideal for our children and grandchildren. Our grands range from 5 to 12 years old and enjoyed climbing up the ladder to their sweet bunking quarters and had no issue navigating it. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and dining ware. Food City is only 15-20 minutes away for your grocery needs. The grounds are breathtaking - perfect for kickball, wiffle ball, lounging in hammocks, fishing in the creek, Easter egg hunts and s’mores making. Try to arrive in daylight as the road leading to the cabin is a bit narrow and winding. We were sad to leave and hope to return again.
We had a wonderful stay! The house was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked. The hosts definitely have thought through what their guests might need. The kids loved playing in the creek. We all loved the beautiful AT just down the lane. Will definitely come back!
We planned and looked forward to this trip for months. We had a group of 10 adults that had the best time. We went in January, so it was pretty cold. And when they mean no service, it’s no service. I have sprint and I got enough bars to make a call out if you walk towards the road from the house. The drive up is a very very windy mountain. It gets foggy at night, so make sure you’ve got good lights on your car. When we went, the mountains were covered in snow and it was breathe taking. They have a self serve coffee bar (complete with beans), a good amount of kitchen gadgets, plates and all the dishes, and some essentials like salt and pepper. Plenty of bedding and towels were stored in the closets. The house stayed really warm at night, and overall it was the perfect place for us to stay. We look forward to booking it again!
We had the most amazing time with friends and family. We didn’t realize all of the bunks were up a ladder. But there was so much room for everyone. We got married under the cover area and it made for an amazing wedding. It was everything we could have dreamed of.
We loved staying at this house! The trails, the creek and the gazebo made our family reunion so special. The host really thought of everything for this home, it was so cozy and it was great to disconnect and be together talking around the fire.
One of the best experiences we have had with a VRBO property. Easy check-in, great communication, amazing house and grounds. For full disclosure, there is no internet and no cellphone signal, but that made the property even more appealing to us (we had lots of teen and pre-teen boys that were forced to disconnect). Great weekend.
Our family is scattered across the country and our annual get-togethers are super important to us! We disconnected from the rest of the world (I.e., no Wi-Fi, no TV and no cell service at the house) but lots and lots of talking, relaxing, hiking, game playing, playing in the creek, fishing, and of course, eating! Of course there were many short trips to the top of the mountain to check phones, etc., and not just for the teenagers! The location is beautiful and private and the house is awesome! It met our needs and so much more. We will be back for sure!
