Friendly hosts and vey nice surroundings. Uniquely furnished with an owl theme. Lovely gardens and beautiful stream with waterfalls make it a perfect getaway!
We had a great time at the Owls nest. The location is ideal for a little time away and very close to waipio outlook. The property itself is also very fun and a good draw with a waterfall and generally a cool layout. Only negative is the pretty steep cleaning fee.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Owlâs Nest cabin and surrounding property. The cabin was beautiful, cozy, and well outfitted. Was very cutely decorated with an impressive amount of owl things, which my four year old LOVED looking for. The outdoor space is just incredible. Beyond the things to explore right on the property, Waipio canyon overlook is a short walk away. Darin was super helpful and accessible and made everything a breeze. If we are lucky enough to travel back to the BI in the future, we will definitely be staying here again!
May need to check their bookings more closely, I received a call two days before we were scheduled to check out stating we did not get our things out of the cabin, this was a moment of panic for us! After calling them back they did see that we were not supposed to checkout that day! Even though the grounds were beautiful it was hard to enjoy because it felt like you were always being watched by the caretakers whose house was connected to the cabin we stayed in. We basically just slept there and spent our days with family and friends at other locations. I did enjoy hearing the frogs at night!
Really unique secluded log cabin in the rainforest. We enjoyed a sunrise walk out to Waipi'o overlook and walking around the gulch trails on property. The Owl theme and art was incredible. Frogs are loud but the host leaves ear plugs which is really thoughtful. Totally recommend starting here. Mahalo!
I wanted to surprise my daughter for her birthday with a 3 night stay on the north end of the big island so we could explore the area; Honokaa and Waimea.
This property is only 2 blocks from Waipio Valley which was stunning and a must see! We spent our days in Waimea about 20-30 minute drive away shopping, eating and getting massages since most places in Honokaa were closed on the days we were there (sunday/monday). Honokaa town itself is historic and walkable and very old town cool. Next time we will go on different days so we can eat at the restaurants there.
There are multiple units on this property so be prepared for some overlap with others. Also, I did not see in the ad that parking was limited to 1 car per guest so we had a bit of issue with that upon check in as we had 2 cars. But the host was kind enough to work it out with us.
The forest around the property is dense so there are mosquitos but once inside its all good but using the lanai is not possible in the wet months. However, the stream/waterfall/ponds on property are amazingly tranquil and a real treat to be able to access all of that. Bug spray is provided.
Overall, we had a great stay and Katerina the host was so nice. Their cat Poki hung out with us in the cabin and slept on my daughters bed which was a highlight of our stay there. :) Definitely a unique space and within our budget.
Had a lovely last-minute stay in the Owl's Nest. We were not able to access the check-in instructions until after we arrived since there is no wifi in the surrounding area. But the in-house wifi -- and Darrin himself -- soon remedied that. As part of the Hasegawa family of Honoka'a, we will no doubt be back and would love to stay here again!
A truly beautiful log cabin set in amazing gardens with their own waterfall. (And a good waterfall at that). Very friendly, helpful hostess. Great location.
The property exceeded our expectations and 5 stars doesnt do it justice. Highly recommended.
