The home was quite small but also had lots of furnishings that made it difficult for us to move around since we are seniors with mobility limitations. There are few places to use a walker. The sliding door to the porch was extremely heavy to operate as well as the heavy metal security bar. The gravel driveway made it hard to load and unload our vehicle. I also overlooked the fact that there was no dishwasher when I booked it. The property is definitely suited for a younger family.
We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Cottage very much. Sunsets were beautiful (see photo) and accommodations were great. Only issue we had was the coffee maker was not advertised as a Keurig. Minor setback was quickly resolved with a visit to the local Walmart .
We are repeat guests. It could have been cleaner, not sure they even wiped things down in the kitchen: table, countertops, fridge. Bathroom sink and tub didnât look very clean and could feel crumbs/dirt on the floors when I walked. The grill flamed when we tried to cook fish so lots of grease⊠like the location
This was our family's second time at Sunset Cottage. The lake is a "no wake" lake, in a quiet neighborhood, so it was very peaceful. Kayaks and paddle boards were made available, and we used them every day. Swimming was wonderful--the lake is very clear! There are an abundance of turtles on South Twin lake.Check in was a breeze. There is a Meijer and Wal Mart in Sturgis, MI, which is a short drive away, for when you need groceries/supplies. Sturgis also has a used book store (Lowry's), and LaGrange, IN, has Foltz Bakery for when you need doughnuts. The owner is very responsive. The cottage was clean when we checked in--I think she puts a lot of effort into running Sunset Cottage. 6 of us (2 adults, 2 teens, and 2 under 12) stayed comfortably in the cabin. I would not hesitate to book this cottage again. I highly recommend this property!
Stayed for a weekend and it was perfect! The rental has so much to do, paddle boards, kayaks, a paddle pontoon, and pontoon rental. The pontoon rental was amazing, it was dropped off to us and picked up. It was so peaceful. I cannot say enough good things of the service and response time of the owners. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to many!!
A wonderful weekend at the lake! Our family had the best time kayaking and paddle boarding. The house had everything we needed. Quiet neighborhood for a peaceful stay.
Location and beautiful views of the lake and sunsets from outdoor/sun porch made for relaxing stay. Short drive to all there is to do in Shipshewana was convenient. Cottage furnishings are dated.
Host provided everything needed for a pleasant stay. House was clean, pretty, well-equipped, just feet from the lake. Beds were comfortable but one was really high off the floor. Porches were pleasant. I would recommend this place. Husband and I stayed for 3 days in Spring.
Small little house on the lake. The lake is beautiful. 2 small bedrooms. The bedrooms have newer floors. Good water pressure in shower. Most likely best used as a summer rental where what you want is a beautiful view of the lake.
It is a little cottage right up against a lake. The beds and bedding were comfortable, and the kitchen was well supplied, including a starter of coffee pods. It could have been cleaner, but overall it was a good stay.
The cottage felt so warm and welcoming! The cottage met all our needs: stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, open living space.
Beautiful view of the lake and sunset. The lake was so clean and quiet. The host answered all our questions promptly. Highly recommend this peaceful and relaxing cottage!!
