This property bears no resemblance to the description on their website. The property is in dire need of improvements. A dank, musky odor hits you as soon as you enter the lobby. It is in disrepair with wires hanging from the ceilings in the common areas. My wife and I were so disappointed, that we cancelled our reservation upon arrival and took our chances finding another hotel to stay for the weekend.
Room and hotel are definitely old and run down. The front of the front desk was very dusty. Abandoned buildings across the street were very scary. The locals said it’s not safe at night around there. A scary man jumped into the back seat of my sister’s car while sitting outside waiting for us to come down and they had to scream and threaten him to get out of her car. I was uneasy about the front entrance of the hotel being open with no one at the front desk at 1am when we got back from the wedding. We didn’t need a key or anything to get into the hotel entrance.
I didn’t like that we couldn’t put our expensive items into the safe in the room because the instructions of how to reset the pin were completely scratched off. Other than that, our beds were clean and the room was neat. Thank goodness we only had to stay 1 night.

The hotel was dirty and smelly. Very disappointed.
Zach the manager is wonderful. But there are a lot of issues with the hotel. Luckily it is under renovation so hopefully much better in the future. The housekeeping staff need much better skills. The breakfast could be better too. The bed was very comfortable. We slept well! That says something in their favor.

They are trying to update this old hotel but it was short on services. Breakfast was billed as serving until 9:30 but at 9 there was no breakfast available.
I only gave 1 star bcuz it made me. This is the most unsafe hotel ever in Hudson. From a landline phone in room that is not connected to anything (paper weight) to the t.v not working to the ceiling light/fan hanging by wires in the bathroom. But to top it off not once but twice have the General Manager walk into my room unannounced, the 2nd being at 10pm at night, Is unbelievable. And reason i got......ooops. This day and age to walk into a hotel room unannounced when someone is sleeping is as dangerous as breaking and entering. And well you know the consequences
The hotel was clean and the rooms were like that of a Fairfield Inn. The lobby on the first level is a two star level, and the breakfast was packaged to go processed food. On the plus side, the front desk was helpful, the rooms were clean and it’s pet friendly.
Total disappointment! The furniture was broken; so called a closet area wall was broken with stains; bathroom was not clean when we got there; the sofa was full of stains. For close to $400 a night, one expects a lot better than what this hotel offered.

This is an old hotel that is in dire need of repair and renovation. The ceiling was broken down in places. The door to my room was buckled and getting unglued. The paint on the walis was chipped. The smoke detector was removed. The interior decoratng was not good. The staff however was wonderful. The manager was the best, the rooms were clean. The bathroom was small but good.
Once lovely hotel is a sad shadow of its former self. The pile of cigarette butts in the corner of the entrance area was a good clue to what lay inside: the basics are met but no one cares. I've stayed here off and on for years since Hudson is my hometown, and the location is terrific. But the current iteration of the old St Charles lacks any charm. A little care would go a long way-- a box of dying plants at the edge of the garden could be planted or ditched; the cheapest plastic cutlery in the breakfast area could be upgraded; a dirty food container on the hallway floor could be removed in a timely way. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the shower was fine; on the minus side, one bedside lamp and power/charger did not work, no housekeeping service during our two days and nights. Worst of all was that we were overcharged 25% from the Expedia price.

Zach at the front desk was so accommodating. If he goes, that place is going under.
We’re only in town because of a funeral of a very close family member so there were not many places to stay unfortunately.There were a previous guest hair in the shower that I asked the staff to take care of, and didn’t there was dirt and grime behind the handle of the sink. The iron and ironing board are just leaned against the wall. The curtains were very old, dirty and dusty very fragile to even move, The bed sheets were probably only 300 count and very well worn but believe they were clean. The environmental unit was quite dirty. Walls were painted by amateur had alot scuff marks on them and chipped paint. There was what appeared to be some bodily fluid on the front of the drawer between the two beds. If there were any other place to have stayed, we would have we will not be back and would not recommend it. The hallway outside the room there was either blood or some other bodily fluid on the walls. It was only for one night and we survived sleep was not very good. The continental breakfast was dry cereal toast if you wanted to do it yourself.
This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever stepped foot in. It was truly horrifying and causes me to question the Expedia brand. I did not stay here due to the dead bugs in the lobby and Expedia failed to secured my refund
