Overall, this was a very nice stay for me. I was just in town for one night, and this kept me close to downtown and right next to a nice coffee shop to fuel up in the morning. My only inconvenience was that there was no wifi for my use. Stephen was responsive, but we missed connections because I was away from the room until late in the evening. After I left, it turned out that a power strip was turned off, but it was too late to be of use to me. Again, I would recommend this room for others. Charming, clean, and a unique location. Please note that the access was up a set of metal outdoor stairs. If you have any accessibility requirements, this may not be the best choice, but you can clarify with the host.
My husband and I wanted a date night in the city and this place was so perfect! The locomotive and area were decorated for Christmas. Loved the historical aspect and the antique decorations. Taps was a great spot to grab a drink and we walked a few blocks for food. Wouldnât change a thing! Thank you.
Very clean. Close to everything. Can walk or drive, lots of parking in town. The people in the trourist information were very helpful. Enjoyed coming back and relaxing in the Chessie Room!!
This is a beautiful little property very conveniently placed downtown! I was worried that there might be a lot of noise from how close it was it a main road but it was extremely peaceful.
This is the cutest, quaint stay. The little historical touches are such a nice touch. Everything is immaculate. The fireplace was so cozy. Itâs private & charming. I love Butter it Up & getting gift cards to there for breakfast is amazing. Iâd absolutely stay again!
The room was clean and cozy. From the beautiful windows that look down on the train and visitors center, to the theme, itâs an adorable room. The host was quick to respond to anything we needed.
With that being said, the location wasnât what I expected. Yes this is a very walkable area⊠but be aware of your surroundings. We encountered a lot of homeless people and aggressive panhandlers. This is not anything the host can control. You just need to be careful and probably drive wherever you are going. It did seem to be a very LGBTQ+ friendly area though. These are just some things to keep in mind, that I wish I would have been better prepared for our trip.
I was in town for an event. The accommodations were excellent. The location was great; I was able to walk everywhere I needed to go. Nice views of the old train station and the Ohio River.
All the hotels downtown were booked and I had a reunion at Marshall University this weekend. We found this delightful (an understatement) VRBO property in the heart of downtown. We were able to walk or take a short drive to all of the events. This property really made the weekend special. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back soon.
Beautiful place! Very quaint and cozy with a nice decorative theme. Property manager was very helpful and followed up to make sure everything went well. 5 stars!
We had a wonderful stay in this historic apartment set into a historic train depot area where there was shopping, yoga, and restaurants right outside the building. The place was spotless and cozy with large windows (and curtains & blinds). The decor was thought out and of the era while being light and airy. There is a kitchenette-style room and a dreamy claw foot tub in the bathroom. There is parking right outside and a private patio near beautiful old trains before you climb outdoor stairs to a keypad entry. We walked around town and there is plenty to do and places to eat and drink. The spare bed in the pull-out couch wasnât the comfiest, but thatâs kind of expected with a couch bed. We stayed only one night, so it wasnât a problem. The great thing was the owner had it set up and made when we got there so that we didnât have to fool with it. We had such a great stay and appreciate how much intention goes into this vrbo!
We had a great and relaxing trip for our anniversary. We loved that it had 2 comfortable chairs that we sit in to watch TV in front of a beautiful fireplace with an electric insert.
We like that it is such a unique property. A second floor, single apartment, over a retail business in a former train station right next to a locomotive! The train station has been converted into new retail establishments. Itâs across from a park on the Ohio River and not too far a walk from the downtown area. Parking directions were unclear, but the host was immediately accessible for clarification. Lots of sweet details in the Chessie Room, including a claw foot tub (which one may or may not like). We appreciated the coffee and refrigerator. Breakfast not on sight, but offered at a nearby establishment.
