At first glance, the hotel looks grand and impressive. Many guests are amazed to find a place like this in Pakistan, and the property does stand out locally. However, for anyone who has travelled internationally, it’s simply on par with average high-end hotels abroad — elegant, yes, but not exceptional. It’s nice for Pakistan, not globally prestigious. What truly lets the hotel down is the staff and service. They are often standoffish, unhelpful, and occasionally rude. On the rare occasions they greet you warmly, it feels forced and insincere. There’s also clear bias — Western-looking guests receive noticeably better treatment, while others are largely ignored. The limousine service is a complete scam, with fares doubling for the same route under excuses like “different direction.” Tipping is also expected constantly — even basic courtesy feels tied to how much you pay. Even the “complimentary airport drop-off” policy is absurd. My mother didn’t need the 40-minute airport ride and asked to be dropped just six minutes away instead, planning to continue to the airport herself. They refused and made her pay, meaning she lost her complimentary transfer entirely. Food is average, lacking authentic Pakistani flavour, and even the tea is plain kettle tea. Overall, the hotel looks luxurious but lacks genuine hospitality. Beneath the polished image lies poor service, inflexibility, and favouritism — not worth the price.

The grounds are lovely. The room is nice. The provided cell did not work. The food was only ok - fairly salty on all meats. There is a dress code for breakfast inside so be aware. The provided “fruit basket” with the club room was two apples on a plate ;-). Overall a decent place with lovely surroundings.

Overall it’s a fine hotel but staff not very helpful and the cafeteria is like a zoo. You get up your seat is gone. Food comes cold and when you let them know the serves touches the food with his hands to see temperature “oh sorry sir your right” lol. Hygiene issues all over the hotel. Overall for the price in Islamabad, overpriced and bad. Now the good— hmm can’t think of anything

When I arrived at the reception, I was greeted warmly, which felt very welcoming. On my request, they kindly extended the checkout time to 2 pm. The food quality was average; we had Lebanese cuisine. Unfortunately, we missed the breakfast and instead went to Rakaposhi Café, but based on the experience, I would rate the breakfast 3 stars. Overall, the property appears a bit old and could benefit from some upgrades. However, the location is fantastic, very central, and ideal for tourists.

Staying at Serena for the 2nd time - Pakistani hospitality at its finest! They go above and beyond with everything they do, from the complimentary airport/bus terminal pickup to the warm reception (greetings & welcome drinks), to the ambiance /architecture (simple yet classy), the food and the facilities - everything is top notch. Lastly, icing on the cake is that they gladly extended my stay for a couple of hours! Will definitely stay here again another time.
