Barley Cottage is ideally placed for exploring the surrounding area which showcases beautiful south Devon including beaches such as Bantham, Bigbury and Hope Cove, the pretty towns or Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Darthmouth.. 1 step to entrance.

Bathroom: Bath With Shower Over, Toilet. LPG gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Enclosed garden with patio and sitting out area. Shared facilities: Laundry facilities (coin operated); Gym; Indoor swimming pool (open from Easter Holidays - to the end of October Half term holiday) and outdoor swimming pool (open May-August. Allocated parking for 1 car; additional visitor car park. No smoking. Please note: There are unfenced ponds and an unfenced stream in the grounds.. Barley Cottage is a stone-built two-bedroom cottage set within 28 acres of private grounds in the Colmer Estate near Modbury in South Devon. The cottage is one of only 20 privately owned homes on the estate which includes a woodland, fishing lake, streams, landscaped gardens and meadows. There is a large communal heated outdoor swimming pool nearby which guests can use (heated late May to the end of August) and an indoor pool that is open from April to October, plus guests also have use of the shared tennis courts, table tennis table, games room, gym and children’s play area situated within a walled garden.
This cosy terraced cottage sits alongside similar properties and retains the original stone features in the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room area. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pod machine and fridge/freezer. The living area is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day exploring the local area, so kick back and watch a film on the TV with Freeview in front of the electric wood burner. The enclosed patio area in front of the cottage has outdoor seating and it is a great suntrap for enjoying an al fresco meal before the sun sets. Heading upstairs, there is access to a lawned area behind the cottage, with winding paths leading to the Colmer Estate facilities. Across the landing there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and two bedrooms, the first with a double bed and the second with a set of bunk beds.
This hidden South Hams holiday home is truly a nature lover’s paradise with a combination of meadows, fishing lake, trails and streams which guests are welcome to explore, and the estate attracts a huge variety of wildlife including birds, butterflies, dragonflies, foxes, badgers and squirrels. Colmer is centrally situated in the heart of the South Hams, an area of outstanding beauty, within easy reach of attractive towns such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Modbury. Beautiful beaches and invigorating coastal walks are within 15 minutes drive. Dartmoor National Park is within a 10-minute drive and showcases 368 square miles of rolling hills, rugged granite outcrops and fresh, clean air.
With over 450 miles of public rights of way, you’ll find enough walks to keep you busy for a year, let alone a week! Colmer is a wonderful holiday destination with fantastic communal facilities on the doorstep and many places within the extensive grounds of this lovely location for those seeking peace and tranquillity. The gastro pub is only a 10-minute walk away, as is the local Spar shop. The Ringfeeder farm shop and cafe are just a 3-minute drive away, where you can purchase fresh daily produce including their own farm milk, bread and pastries plus farm eggs. There is a cafe and a shop 5 minutes drive away, where you can enjoy delicious home made food and browser their gorgeous textiles all made from recycled plastic bottles.
