Room was really nice clean and comfortable but there were building workers on the roof above our room until after 6pm and they resumed work at 8.30 the next morning so we had no peace at all. I spoke to reception who apologised and said they would discount the room. I've not noticed any money return yet. Plus the Shovel bar and restaurant only opens Wednesday Thursday Friday so we had to drive somewhere else. The location of the bar was one of the main reasons I booked the place. I thought I could park up and relax, eat dinner and drink after a long drive. Shame because it's a beautiful place.
The inn from the front and inn the lobby was just like the pictures. The room was spacious but the bathroom was very cramped. The floors throughout the inn were very noisy and creepy. We were looking forward to dinner and drinks at the Shovel Handel , but sadly itâs only open a few days a week. There was renovations going on in the back and was very noisy after 8am with Lots of banging and sawing. The back view was filled with construction dumpsters. The beds were very hard and pillows very flat. Not the restful nights sleep I was hoping for.
Everything about our stay was amazing! The staff were all very nice and welcoming. The restaurant on site had delicious food, and the waitstaff were all very friendly. The location was everything you love about New England; small town feeling, but still close to many activities.
The king sized bed was divided down the middle under the very hard mattress. I had to sleep sitting up to get any sleep. This was too bad because the room was pretty. The room was small, but it was plenty for what we needed. The people at the front desk were nice
