The stay started out fine. The space was clean and mostly as described, though the seating was a daybed rather than a couch/chair, and the washer/dryer mentioned appeared to be outside and was never clearly explained. We also did not receive the access code automatically and had to request it while driving in on Christmas Eve.The unit itself is very small, similar to a mother-in-law suite, which we expected and were fine with.On the third night of our stay (Fri, Dec. 26), the bed frame collapsed while my husband was sitting on it. The particle board split, screws pulled out, and the mattress fell to the floor at an angle. My husband weighs about 215 lbs and I weigh about 225 lbs. This was clearly a structural failure of the bed.It took about 20 minutes to hear back from the host, who could only be contacted through Vrbo messaging. They said they might be able to contact someone the next day to “see how we can solve the situation,” which offered no immediate solution. Given the size of the unit, there was nowhere to move the mattress, and we still had four nights remaining. With no safe sleeping option, we packed up and moved to a hotel.The next day around 11:20 AM, the host asked if we would be there for several hours so they could look at the bed. We told them no (they could come in). That was the last communication we received—no confirmation of repairs, no further apology, and no follow-up. We spent the remaining four nights of our stay in a hotel.
