My stay at Hotel Pumilio was nice, it had a small, boutique hotel feel. The property is situated in a jungle like oasis be prepared for iguana sightings, a cool bird or two also. Staff were generally helpful (Adrian and JP were standouts during our 1st visit to CR). My 12 y/o daughter and I stayed in the KAL suite w jacuzzi. The room was spacious, clean and sufficient for our 5 night stay. We had an outdoor seating area where the jacuzzi was but we did not use the area at all because mosquitos. Be sure to take repellent (I used Tea tree oil which worked for us). The stay wasn’t issue free but overall I would recommend if you are looking for a jungle retreat close to Jaco beach (less than 10min uber ride). The hotel does provide transportation to and from SJO which is great but you will pay a premium. Several uber drivers I met during my stay said they provide airport transport for much less so do some research if you can. They have a spa I did not try it out. I had breakfast on one morning and it was good. Oh and the chilled welcome glass of wine was a nice touch too.

This charming boutique property offers personalized attention to every guest. Though we initially felt a bit apprehensive when booking, we ended up loving it! Perfect for those seeking a peaceful, private escape for a few days—ideal for relaxation, but not suited for those looking for a luxurious getaway.

Staff is the very best in the Jacó region. Friendly and efficient. The chef for the morning breakfast is superb. She gets every order just right and serves with a pleasant smile. The cleaning staff are highly professional, leaving the floors spotless and replacing towels often.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the front desk staff! I usually don't like hotels, but this really is an exception. It is very peaceful and quiet and next to a river. It feels like you are still in nature, with the benefits of a hotel. Breakfast is very good! We ended up extending our stay here :)

Safety felt like a concern here. Was very isolated and our room was missing the swing bar door lock, not to mention, the bathroom window was left open and unlocked. Slept uneasy. Another big issue was the hotel staff sanitation procedures (or lack of). The breakfast Buffett attendant, made our food, cleaned other areas, all with the same pair of gloves, not changing once. And I saw them standing with the gloved hand in their mouth (biting the nails). I was in shock and immediately stopped eating when I realized they were not compliant with sanitation guidelines.
