We had a great 6 days at the Papagayo resort. The villas were clean and and the beds extremely comfortable. The kitchen was convenient too as it allowed us to eat in and enjoy the resort. The pools and Jan Thiel beach were wonderful also.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom garden view villa. The grounds are very nice, yet the pool at the resort itself (not the ones at the beach club, which is a totally separate area) looked abandoned and not well-maintained. The villa was generally clean, but there was A LOT of wear and tear. There is nothing the resort's cleaning staff can do with the state of the villa; it needs a renovation. This is not a 4-star property for sure (though I am quite confident it was 5-7 years ago); now it gives a 2-3-star feel. Everything that can be scratched is scratched; everything will benefit from an extra coat of paint or two; windows and doors are either not working or working funny. As other reviewers mentioned, the AC works in bedrooms but not in bathrooms or the living area. This was an architectural decision that has pros and cons - you just need to be aware.

Great Stay

The stay at the Papagayo villas is a comfort away from home. The villas are quiet and peaceful and have everything you could need during your stay. The salt water infinity pool at the hotel was also a great feature. Really love that you can share all of the hotel amenities.

We loved our Villa! It had everything we needed for our family of 4. This property is located next to plenty of bars and restaurants and an easy drive to Willemstad. I don’t love to repeat vacation spots, but we might need to do this one again.

Property was nice, close to beach, cleaning staff and maintenance crew were great- kind , friendly and helpful. Since we had an ocean view villa we were close to the beach area and the music on Friday and Saturday late night kept us awake. Wish the rooms were sound proof.
