Good hotel & great staff, but needs updates
I’ve stayed at City Lodge OR Tambo many times, typically just for one night after arriving on a long flight from the US and then departing to a different city the next day. The bed and pillows are comfortable, excellent water pressure and hot water in the shower, and there are many offerings for food (room service and breakfast buffet) which are all good. I love that there are many water stations throughout the hotel where you can refill your water bottle with cold water.
The rooms could have better lighting, especially in the bathrooms which are always sort of dark. My phone didn’t work in the room, and the posted phone number for room service also didn’t seem to be in service so I had to go down to the cafe to order; the person there was very nice and the order was delivered to my room in a timely manner. The gym is a bit neglected - 2 of the 3 treadmills didn’t work today, and the one that did could not be reset so I just continued on the previous person’s workout. Everyone who works at the hotel is very helpful and very professional.
