The parking lot was being renovated and it was confusing where to park. We had to drive in through the exit side. But there was always an available space when we tried. I don't like the rug in the living room. No one liked the way it felt underfoot.Kitchen knives could be better.Beds were comfortable. The fire alarms started chirping for a new battery in the middle of the night. The management company replied quickly and just had us disable it ourselves. Thankfully my husband figured it out but it was so disruptive to a good night's sleep.
We spent two weeks on the Big Island. Started in Waiamea and the Kohala Coast. Then moved to HIlo for a few days, then to Volcano National Park. Ended our stay with our rental in Kona. It was a beautiful facility, right on the water. So clean and well set up. We had such a relaxing time. It was the perfect ending to our Hawaii adventure. (Photos all taken on the property)
Starting with the good. This is a beautiful property. The scenic views are amazing and exactly as described. While there is no AC in the unit, there were wonderful breezes off the beach a the fans made up for the rest ⊠almost. Fans ⊠one of the ceiling fans could not be set to high, minimizing its effectiveness. One of the two portable standing fans did not work at all. We had 2 big problems with our stay. The first is unacceptable ⊠completely ineffective communication with the property manager vacasa. I contacted vacasa the evening of my first stay to report a few problems ⊠beeping noise, flickering light bulb and the landlord only television on the unit not working. I was told the âlocal teamâ would look into these problems and no action was taken. I contacted vacasa each day of my 4 night stay and each day I was told the same thing. The local team never took any action and these problems were never fixed. Poor Communication and inaction by the property manager is unacceptable. The second problem is the lack of a working TV in the unit. I know this is a beach vacation and watching TV is not a priorityâ but a couple of evenings were planned at home to eat dinner and watch TV late at night as a family. We were not able to do this. As a result we spent a few more evenings out than I planned at additional cost. Again, not the end of the world, but a real inconvenience made worse by the promise of a fix that never came.
I have stayed at Kona Bali Kai many times. This unit was clean the kitchen was pretty well stocked. I thought it was a nice touch that they have ice chests for you borrow. It needs maintenance. The couch is uncomfortable to sit on. I did not care for this particular unit's location. It's very far north. I like the southern units better because you can see the surfers that come everyday from the park.
The location of this rental is right on the water. We could hear the ocean and see the ocean the entire time we were there. There isnât a great place to walk out into the water but that wasnât the purpose of our stay. This location was easy to get to restaurants, golf courses, and other activities we wanted to take advantage of. My only complaint is that we had to leave. Itâs hard to say bye to paradise.
The view right on the ocean with the crashing waves was fantastic! The unit was really great. Neat, clean, comfortable, well-stocked.The built-ins allowed us to easily unpack. We loved it here.
Enjoyed the property. Beautiful view. Nice layout. Our complaints are with Vacasa Management and their delayed communication. We received a key code that was 10 digits long when it required only 4 numbers. We reached out via text but did not receive a return text for 6 hours. We tried via phone and weâre on hold over 40 mins, never speaking with anyone. We were very lucky to find an on-site person to talk to. She was wonderful and helpful and was able to get us into the condo. Vacasa was slow to respond to every communication and was not helpful. Vacasa never responded with the appropriate key code and if it were not for chance run in with an on-site worker, I donât know how we would have gotten in.
This condo was perfect size and extremely comfortable for the two of us. Its close and convenient to everything we needed in Hilo and a short drive to multiple beautiful waterfalls and scenic views we wanted to visit.
We really appreciated the suggestion to go see Isaac Hale black beach area! We appreciated the quiet hours that were required in the contract for the condo, however this did not prevent loud young people showing up at the park after hours to hang out after dark until late a couple of the nights we were there (which happens to be right below the windows). It was spring break so that might have been the reason? But, no one was monitoring the park which was supposed to be closed after dark. This made it difficult to get to sleep, but the condo itself was clean and comfortable.
We appreciated having towels & chairs to use for our excursions about the island.
Nicely updated condo, with the most comfortable beds of any place we've stayed. Very clean and kitchen was well outfitted. Balcony is about 30 feet from ocean, so we always had the sounds of the waves crashing (rocky, so not swimming beach; public swimming beach about 1 mile away). Only downside is no A/C, but an extra night shower and fans made it comfortable to sleep.
Came with a friend to visit our other friends that live in Kona so we werenât in the condo that much. Overall it was clean except for the floors. Weâre local and always take our shoes off in homes but I had to wear socks (we didnât have house slippers) because without them, my feet turned black. It wasnât a big deal because i know thereâs a lot of dust blowing around and coming through the condo. There is also no a/c - it was hot and muggy and the fans just werenât enough (and Iâm really not an a/c person) . Having an a/c wouldâve made a huge difference. The location was great and it came equipped with all the essentials. Check in and out was very convenient and contacting the property was fast and easy.
