This destination home is in the seat of horse country in the beautiful town of Kamuela/Waimea. This A-frame challet home has spectacular views of Mauna Kea and the verdant green, rolling hills of paniolo (hawaiian cowboy) country. Cozy up to the wood burning stove on cool Waimea nights. This lush wonderland is on the outskirts of Parker Ranch. Amenities include washer, dryer, full-service home with new, quality appliances.

Local farmers markets are on Wednesdays and Saturdays in Kamuela town. This residence is 25 minutes from the beautiful white sand beaches of world-famous Mauna Kea and Hapuna. Kahilu Theater in Kamuela town features world class seasonal entertainment. There are fabulous golfing options on the island and many horseback riding opportunities near-by. We couldn't have been happier with our week long stay! Well, maybe a master bedroom door upstairs. The views are spectacular, the beds and pillows were comfortable, plenty of towels and extra bedding is available and the kitchen is well stocked. The tradewinds that blew through the house were amazing! Our only complaint is the water was a little hotter than what we would consider warm, but not hot. My husband was okay with it. FYI: There is a trick to the master bathroom shower, it's a little difficult to get to turn hot on occasion. It will stay cold when it's turned to hot, other times it's just fine. It took me about 10 min. to figure it out the first day, but I just kept waiting and waiting. There was hot water downstairs, so I knew it had to be something. Finally, after turning it down and back up a couple times, it worked no problem. Knowledge is power. It was simple. We flew in to share in our 1st granddaughters 1st Birthday and had a little celebration dinner for her and lets just say she had a great time be-bopping around the space, we blocked the stairs with the ottoman, worked like a charm. They even had a highchair!It was close enough to everything, that we didn't feel like we were missing any action and could experience Kona, Honokaa, and Hilo without driving forever. The Views!!! Our daughter lives in Honokaa and we alternate yearly visits. We will be renting it again, if available, on our next trip.Thank you for such a wonderful home away from home.

Beautiful Home

My family and I had a wonderful week staying at this home. It had many great amenities and was decorated very nicely. We enjoyed ourselves up in the hills and on a clear day you had a perfect view of the mountains from the patio.

Charming A-Frame near Waimea

Our family stayed in this charming a-frame in June. It's a nice property with a great view, well stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, and garage. This was our third time on the big island, but our first time staying near Waimea, which has such a relaxed vibe. The owner was super communicative and helpful - thanks so much Lise!

Consistent with the other reviews, we were very happy with our stay at the horse house This is an excellent location to base your trip around Hawaii.. the climate in the town here is a bit cooler, so there’s no need for ac. It’s very central and you can get to any of the attractions you want to go to easily. We would stay here again if we come back.

We stayed in this house several times. And we always happy to come back. It feels like home. There are three bedrooms with comfortable beds . A kitchen has all equipment that you need. And you have opportunity to have a rest in a cool place after a hot beach, because the weather in Waimea always little cooler than on the beach. Lisa is a great host . She helps us with any questions.

Perfect for our needs!

We were on Hawaii Island for a family birthday / luau. With us were family members who had never been to Hawaii before. Lio Ka Hale was perfect for our needs. Lise was very responsive to any questions. We had everything we needed, including a toolbox, which came in very handy for repairing a wheel chair we brought with us! We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Waimea Property

We loved staying at the this lovely Waimea property. This was the most well appointed vacation rental we have ever rented. We really appreciated the well stocked kitchen that had everything we needed. We rented a condo at one of the resorts after we left The Horse House that was more expensive, and not nearly as stylish, and they didn’t even provide coffee filters. We would definitely rent this beautiful, clean and comfortable home again.

Waimea Winner!

The stay here was excellent! Located in the Waimea area, this location provided great access to hike Mauna Kea, visit beaches along the Kohala coast and enjoy Waimea itself. Wonderful Stay!

Amazing property and the host was reachable if you had any questions. The view of Mauna Loa was so clear and viewable from the property and the neighborhood was very quiet and friendly. We loved our stay at the Horse House. We thought it was perfect for our family and had everything you would ever need to make a vacation pleasant and comfortable. Will go back again!
