Very welcoming owners to their under cover eating area with our dog. Very accommodating by delivering our dinner to our cottage. Dressed in 1800âs era clothing to celebrate 175th year of settlement. Interesting display of old cameras and art works.
We came for a quiet get away for my husbands birthday and found a lovely community with great people. Donna was so lovely from the first contact and made my husband's birthday super special, opening the restaurant for us and working with Chef Jackie to create a delicious menu. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was simply lovely. We will absolutely be back.
Donna was a great host. Very accommodating whenever we needed provisions. We were really impressed that she opened the restaurant just for us, when it was supposed to be closed for the holidays, paying attention to our dietary requirements as well. The food was absolutely delicious and the ambience was lovely. We were also allowed to bring our cat to stay in the cottage, and she LOVED the experience with us. The cellar had an excellent selection of wines which we enjoyed. We stayed 8 nights and could have easily stayed another week! We were able to find many good eateries and wineries for lunches and dinners within a 30 min drive. Highly recommend.
Cabin was clean and cute. Couldnt wash dishes no dish liquid and only bathroom sink. Nice carob balls left for us. Was a bit pricey for what it was. Take your own milk cause theres wont last. Never found the bbq so bring an electric pan or grill other wise its microwave only.
Very disappointing. Should have rang and asked about all the photos on Stayz website. Only got a tiny room not clean on outside(spiderwebs etc)
Meant to sleep 5 but could only just squeeze 4...Just!!!
Nice quiet area to just relax. No cooking facilities and no restaurant make getting food a little difficult. Restaurants and takeaways are in towns about 15 minutes away, so be prepared for that. Other than that, a really nice stay.
Was not told which cabin I was in. After two messsges I finally worked it out myself by process of elimination. Open the door to find dead flys all over the floor, dead/dying cockroaches and spiders. Linens were clean, bed as hard as rocks. The restaurant that was supposed to be open, apparently according to locals hadnât been open for more than 6 months!!! Paid over $200 per night for crap.
Delightful and comfortable property in the Hamlet of Kanmantoo. Good pizzas and open mike session with the locals on Friday night. Close to Nairn which has a great supermarket and coffee shops. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely manager and setting. Cafe meal Friday night was great. Service was quirky but very friendly. Bed, shower and surrounds were good too.
But kitchen/breakfast supplies were poor. For example there were 10 forks, 2 knives and one spoon??? And our breakfast supplied was bread, butter and jam, hardly enough for one person for one day, let alone two people for two days.
The kitchen desperately needs a stove, sink and dishwashing materials.
The Carob & Hare website lists open times for the cafe which is old info. We arrived expecting to have lunch at the cafe & had to drive into the next town instead, we wouldnât have driven there first if the website didnât state the cafe would be open.
We found having open milk, open butter & jam etc a bit weird, small individual serves being more hygienic / preferable, who knows when the long life milk was opened.
The host is a lovely lady & the place was clean though.
Cottage was very simple but adequate and we really appreciated being able to stay with our dog, plus there's a great off-lead dog park just a few metres down the road. However the restaurant was not open the weekend we were there, as we were expecting from the ad. The garden setting was very overgrown.
