Condo is very clean and well stocked. Nice view from balcony, but not particularly comfortable balcony furniture to sit on and enjoy the view. A small round table and 4 wooden stools and wooden bench were sufficient, but not ideal. Communication with host was sporadic. A few things needed repairs and were addressed by host, but host did not respond on first evening when we arrived after the pool office had closed 5PM) and texted them to see if we could get the pool code. There was no response. Overall- nice place though.

Unit was well stocked with supplies, bed was very comfortable. Configuration of the bathroom to bedroom is a little odd but if you are aware that there’s no seperation it’s fine. Great location.

We had a wonderful stay at this Maui condo. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the AC plus washer/dryer worked perfectly. The beautifully renovated interior and huge kitchen island made it feel both stylish and functional. We loved relaxing on the balcony with a great ocean view and having access to a nice pool and hot tub.Check-in and registration were very easy, and having an elevator and a convenient garbage chute was a big plus. The balcony storage box was stocked with everything needed for beach days—chairs, boogie board, snorkel gear, and kids’ toys. There was also a large closet with plenty of hangers, lots of towels, and ample parking.The location was excellent with easy access to both the north and south shores, and the sandwich shop downstairs was a great bonus. We would absolutely stay here again!

Good from far, far from good

The location of Sugar Beach Resort is amazing!! Pros:- it has an ocean view and a bonus view on the outside wall as it's a corner unit!- the kitchen is updated with newer appliances- beautiful, large kitchen island- gorgeous view of the property and the beach!- a fridge with an ice-maker!Cons:- many of the extra things were found broken during our stay unfortunately (1. the deck box - all the sides were coming off. 2. the beach umbrella didn't work. 3. one of the beach chairs was in very rough shape and needed to have a part re-installed every time we used it. 4. the lock on the cooler was broken so it wouldn't stay closed when carrying it)- the shower leaked A LOT (just a bad design I think)- the bathroom sink drained slowly- the lanai furniture was too high for the railing, especially if you are short or have kids (major safety concern)- the condo was "good from far, far from good" - in pics it looks amazing, but in reality, it needs new paint/trim and the cupboards and drawers were not inline or not installed properly- the condo was not very clean; it looked like the floors hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival, there were splatters in the kitchen, it was dusty, etc. Not a big deal unless you are a clean freak like me. I'm not sure if we'd stay again with all the above issues, but it did the trick for what we needed. For the price we paid, I expected a lot more pros than cons.

Fantastic view of beach and sunset

We loved it! Huge counter for preparing meals in kitchen. We loved the little restaurant down below, the best Reuben sandwich ever! The view from our room was amazing, although the lanai was a little small. Could have maybe been a tad bit cleaner, but that didn’t bother us much.we would definitely stay there again!

Great pool and property

The property is well-kept and clean. The grounds of the resort are kept well cleaned every morning. The pool is just an elevator ride away, as well as the water. Hard to initially find the exact condo due to there being multiple buildings, and a hidden elevator. In walking distance to an ABC store, as well as the top, shaved ice place in Maui. Will definitely be booking this place again.

Perfect one week “base camp”.

Communication was fantastic from start to finish. Unit was quiet even though next to the road. Beach & pool is beautiful & facing the sunset. Located close to highways & everything we needed nearby. Unit was comfortable for two.

In need of repair

Unit was fine- a bit worn out overall however the shower was unusable and leaking ++ all over the bathroom floor and in behind the toilet, etc. We had to use all our towels to mop the floor. Property manager was quick to respond and sent us to an alternate rental but that second property was infested with cockroaches. We ended up renting a last minute hotel and only able to get $ back for the unused nights. Given the time we spent packing and unpacking and packing and unpacking and etc, and the amount of laundry we did in the first rental after mopping up the floors, we should have been compensated for all the nights we paid for. The second rental should have been inspected for cleanliness prior to sending us there. Really bad experience and have no trust in Hawaii life rentals and going forwards will be leery of vrbo in general.

Was informed one day prior to our stay, hours prior to our flight to Maui, that this condo is undergoing serious repair, had been for a while, and that the entire building was affected by these repairs and therefore not available for the 6 day period of our stay in March. Thus, the reason for my rating. Did not stay here. The hosts directly arranged for alternative housing nearby, so we're just waiting on the return of the refundable deposit. Otherwise, this property looked decent from the exterior when we passed by and saw it from both the beach and sidewalk. Didn't appear to have any ongoing repairs, but who knows.

LOVED THIS PLACE!

This gem is underrated... it is way better in person than pictured online. It has great property location and is a corner unit so there are extra windows! It has a lovely view of the overall property and afternoon sun. It was immaculately clean, well updated and had very thoughtful additions throughout! The linens were very cozy and all of the furniture was comfortable. Perfect space for 3 grown ladies with lots of luggage! We had been in 4 other units throughout the complex in our 2.5 week stay in Maui and this unit is by far the best one were were in! Do not hesitate to book- it will be lovely. The shower was not moldy or gross (unlike other units in this complex), the updates made this place look and feel larger than it is. They do need new beach chairs as they are older and one was broken when we arrived but this is not a deal breaker. The only con about this unit is that it's located on Sugar Beach - it's not my favorite Maui location due to the bad rotting fish smell that comes from the nature preserve north of this property. It reeks across the property and along Sugar Beach in general. However, it has nothing to do with this unit as it's awesome. And the local host was very responsive, flexible and a pleasure to work with!!

Not great...not terrible

No personal touches, other rentals we've stayed in had a nice welcome bag of goodies & local suggestions..this had nothing. King bed was incredibly low to the ground making in/out a difficult experience. Shower had no door or curtain just a glass panel so water got out all over the floor & soaked the mat & towels we had to put down all the time. Had to do laundery daily due to lack of sufficient towels & needing to use them on the floor. Did provide chairs/umbrellas & beach things but didnt use snorkel gear rented instead because od cleanliness. A/c didnt shut off when doors to balcony were open even though it was supposed to. Was clean & well stocked but so much stuff in the few cupboards that there was no place to put our few groceries. Was nice enough but wont rent that unit again. Prefer owner-rented units to management-rented units due to more personal attention to detail & better beds..this one was so low, no box spring & very uncomfortable. Light bulbs were out in several lights including bedroom overhead.

Awesome place

The condo is well supplied with dish’s and towels and such! Very comfortable, from the couch to the California king bed! Would definitely recommend this condo!😊
