We were disappointed in the poor condition of this property; chipped paint, limited furnishings in worn condition, 2nd bathroom not updated at all, etc. The proximity to downtown was good, but the neighborhood was sketchy. It was not as clean as expected; sticky kitchen countertop, dirty floors, etc. Not worth the price for a 1-night stay. On the positive side, the rental and check-in process was easy, the owners were responsive, and the beds were comfortable. Would not recommend without significant improvements.
Stay was awesome. Very updated cute house on the inside. Would be nice for 1sr bedroom to have blackout shades; the sun was very bright in the early am. 2nd room was perfect. Comfortable beds. The 2nd bathroom shower drain wouldn't stay open; so you had to manually do it after showering. Just letting you know. I definitely recommend this house. Thanks!
Upon arrival, we realized the house was run down. I know it was listed as 1940s, but in the photos, it looked super remodeled. On the outside, we immediately noticed a door to the basement that was easily accessible to the outside world. Upon entering, we saw how the pics online did not represent the home well at all. The 3rd bedroom was upstairs, with only a bed and a single piece of furniture in the entire upstairs. The carpeting going up the steps was very dirty, and extremely old. Then there was a basement, of which the door was unlocked and open access to the basement. The basement was like a dark old cellar. My kids found a moldy taco in the room where the gaming system was located. There were very limited plugs, and the plug in one bedroom almost caught fire. My husband noticed the smell, and at 2:00 in the morning, it woke him to realize it was the plug his phone charger was plugged into. So, therefore, we were afraid to continue using the plug in that room. There were no nightstands or lamps in the bedrooms. The lamps that were in the living room had no lightbulbs in the fixtures. So, they were useless. There were no window coverings on many of the outlying windows, which meant limited privacy to the outside world. We rewashed all the bath towels we used, because they all smelled like cigarette smoke. We are not smokers, so that was very noticeable to us. I will say the mattresses were comfortable. That was one plus. I would not recommend.
We stayed here while in town for a wedding, and it was an excellent choiceâfar better than staying in a hotel! Everything was exactly as described, and the entire experience was seamless from start to finish. The space was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a perfect place for our family. Weâd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great stay in the area!
This is a cute 1940's home. It fit our needs perfectly. The check in and check out process is supper easy. The home is in a quite neighborhood with off street parking. The host was super responsive with communications and made this a pleasant experience.
Very good place to stay. Clean and comfortable. I would suggest a lock on the basement stairway door since the basement is not used...because someone could fall down those stairs.
We truly appreciate that the accommodations.
The young girls truly loved the loft.
The kitchen had everything except I brought my own blender for my breakfast smoothie.
Hot water excellent and fluffy towels.
The bathrooms were comfortable and very roomy.
The house was exactly as described. Clean, spacious, and in a decent neighborhood. Only a 5 minute drive to Knoxville zoo which is why we chose this house. Several restaurant options within a few minutes of the house as well as DoorDash being available in the area. We have toddlers and the house was kid friendly and decently childproof.
The 1940's bungalow was very clean, nicely updated, and had lots of charm and character. The property owners were easy to communicate with and very courteous. The neighborhood felt safe and people were friendly when we were out for walks. My family and I were glad to have found this property to stay at so we could attend a wedding so far away from our state of Minnesota.
This was a perfect stay for my friends and I! We loved the authenticity of the home and the old vibes it gave.
We had a little issue on check as our door code was changed prior to arrival but the app Dack came to the rescue allowing us to unlock the door whenever we needed.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Knoxville area!
It was a good family house! Clean and decent location. Video games were fun, but would have preferred a television. No TV anywhere in the house. If it hadnât rained our entire stay, it wouldnât have mattered.
My friends and I had a great time visiting the city for the weekend and we were all impressed with the space that was included inside the house. A plus was the location of the house so close to the downtown scene. All the beds and pillows were very comfortable. I will look forward to booking again with this host in the future!
Spent a quick weekend inn Knoxville with some friends and this was easily able to accommodate our group. Location was about 10-20 minutes from everything we wanted to do. Coming into the neighborhood looks rough one way but overall the neighborhood seemed nice.
We had a lovely stay for 2 nights. The owners have done a nice job updating the property. Would have liked a few more power outlets, but overall a nice peaceful nights sleep.
House is cute style, but dirty and not stocked, as described.
This house is not well cared for. The fixtures were clean, but the floors made our feet dirty, the stairs to upstairs were grimy, the corners at the floors are all dust filled and grimy, the dishes and kitchen utensils felt greasy. The back yard had been dug up and hay put over it, but it was very unlevel, so the kids couldn't enjoy the backyard. The kitchen is NOT fully stocked--only 4 coffee mugs and 5 glasses for a house that sleeps 9. The starter kit they promised was not provided. The beds were comfortable. The listing doesn't indicate that one of the bedrooms is upstairs. There is no drawer space in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. When we arrived, the air conditioner in upstairs had been leaking to the point that it came through the ceiling and wet the couch in the living room. We moved the couch, communicated with the management company that evening and all day the next day and on the third day and day if departure. We dried the water on the floor and put a pot under the air conditioner, keeping it emptied, to prevent further damage. They never offered and service recovery for our trouble. I don't recommend this Haven management company.
