Our 30th anniversary trip

Beautiful house and beach. Access is central to all the good stuff Kaua’i has to offer. By far our best trip to the islands because the house and private beach are so amazing.

Dream Location!

I've never stayed at a place with such an amazing location. It was expensive and worth every penny. Not only are you on the beach in a quieter area of the south shore, but can easily walk to the market or shops for anything you need or dinner. Yoga on the lawn, sea turtle on the beach daily. Just a lovely place overall for a dream vacation. Bed, couch and other furniture could be more comfortable, but the sound of the ocean helps drown out those minor things.

Magical stay

This wonderful beach house was perfect for our family of four. We spent hours on the lanai, staring at the ocean, and even more hours a few feet down on the beach. The photos are great, but do not even do it justice. It is just beautiful there. The home was very comfortable, well equipped and extremely well managed, and we will definitely be back. Thank you for an outstanding stay!

Close to a perfect stay

The view from every room in the house is spectacular. The proximity to the water/beach is unbelievable. The long lanai is perfect for hanging out, with plenty of outdoor furniture (table, chairs, chaise lounges), and beach gear. The kitchen and bathrooms are well-stocked. We rather enjoyed the resident chickens with their wake up calls. There are only two things that marred an otherwise perfect stay: 1) the house has only 4 beach towels and the management indicated that it is the limit after we asked for more. So, if you have a beach day, go to dinner and have a boat/scuba type tour where you need towels early next morning, it is a little stressful to have to remember to squeeze in laundry (on vacation, and they have a no washer/dryer policy after 10PM). 2) I got eaten alive our last night of our stay during the night- approximately 20+ bites, and by the pattern of the bites, it seemed to be bedbugs. I told the management and they responded with concern, indicating that they would have maintenance check it out. We had two sightings of waterbugs/roaches but I know that it isn't all that unusual so close to the water. Prior to and at the time of check-in, I inquired about a mid-stay cleaning service that I could pay for, but the management never got back to me.

Cozy cottage

This was such a peaceful bungalow with the ocean as your front yard. Everything was wonderful, we would definitely come back to this place again. There is A/C in each bedroom and in the main room but we only used the one in the bedroom and enjoyed the breezes coming off the ocean. We saw a giant green sea turtle come up on the beach right in front of the house one day but I would not say this is a great spot to snorkel out front but is still a great beach and a perfect area for little babes to play in the water. Here is a strange, albeit important point for those of you who the bugs love - every time we go anywhere, I am covered in bug bites while my husband is completely unscathed but not the case here! I didn’t have to use bug spray one time, there was just enough breeze to keep them at bay. Made my week! Mahalo for an amazing stay.

Great home

We loved everything about this home and will definitely be back! Sunsets are a perfect 10!!!! Only thing I would suggest is the beach out front is very rocky so I’d bring water shoes. We ended up running to Walmart (20 min away) and bought some for $10! Mornings were peaceful and quiet. We can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

Beautiful Kauai Rental

Management absolutely wonderful. Very responsive. House is close to shops, restaurants and a number of snorkel/surf spots. You can actually do a little snorkeling right on Baby Beach. Needed to take recycling items to bins at Brennake Beach

The Ideal House for a Dream Family Vacation in Poipu

The photos and description say everything you need to know about this place. It's literally just a few steps from the sand on Baby Beach, where it's not only great for little kids, but the snorkeling is deceptively really good. It's also walking distance to the shopping center with Longs Drugs and many shops and restaurants. We ate take-out or cooked on location because the views just can't be beat. Why would you want to go anywhere, when you have the best access and views just outside your lanai? There are resident chickens, geckos, egrets, and many birds that come to enjoy the lawn. Turtles regularly swam up on the beach to rest and sunbathe. The interior is decorated nicely, good furniture and two bathrooms are nice for our family of four (two teenagers). Parking and access is easy, and Garden Isle Properties is great to work with. I noticed the coffee maker carafe was cracked and they had a brand new coffee maker for us on the front porch by the next day. Just outstanding service and communication.

Beautiful Spot!

The location of this house is superb; we spent every morning on the lanai with our coffee, enjoying the sight and sounds of the waves. Baby Beach is not a great swimming beach for adults (very shallow, mostly rocky bottom) but it's great for kids and there's a long sandy strip to set up chairs. The beach is popular with locals and tourists, so be aware that you'll frequently see folks cutting across the lawn and on the beach in front of you. The sun on the lanai gets ferocious at about 3-4 pm, but there is a sun shade to cut down on some of the heat. The house is easy walking distance to a shopping center with some great take-out spots (Savage Shrimp!) and also some great restaurants (Beach House!), and we enjoyed getting food and bringing it back to the house for a fabulous dinner on the lanai. The house is well stocked with beach supplies (chairs, towels, snorkeling gear, boogie board, and even reef shoes) and kitchen supplies (real coffee maker, ice machine, all the cooking utensils & pots you might need), the beds are comfy, and the water pressure is good. Don't hesitate to book this place. It's great.

Does not get any better

This is far and away the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. It's not the fanciest or newest or most technologically advanced, but that's kind of the point. This is an old school, cheery, relaxing beach house set on a pristine beach within walking distance of shopping, dining and surfing. I almost regret writing this review, as I really don't want others to find out how great this place is, but the owners and property management team were both excellent and both deserve high praise. The home is exactly as pictured in the listing, and the kitchen is very well equipped and even has a coffee grinder for those of you wanting to drink a fresh cup of Kauai grown coffee while you sit on the lanai and stare out at the ocean or stroll by the turtles hanging out on baby beach. My translation of Hale Kai? Heaven on earth. Mahalo.

Our visit to Kauai was only enhanced by staying at the beach front house on Hoona Rd. Baby beach is lovely and provides an easy snorkeling experience. Sea turtles hung out on the beach and the enclosed snorkeling area provided beautiful fish sightings. We loved the house and the location. Would definitely stay there again.

baby beach cottage

The perfect get away to the sunny south side of the island. Every thing worked and the kitchen was well stocked. There is nothing like the sounds of the ocean as you drift off to sleep. This cottage is walking distance from the best restaurants on the island and at the same time perfectly quiet at night.

Tropical Paradise

This house was perfect for us....the location with access to Baby Beach was perfect for us with young children. The beach is quite protected, and ideal for small children. We appreciated the assortment of beach gear: chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, snorkel gear. Having such gear made it easy to enjoy our stay to the utmost! Garden Island Rentals was responsive and prompt with fixing our few maintenance issues, resolving the few issues in a timely fashion.

Das Haus liegt direkt am Strand und besitzt zwei Schlafzimmer, zwei BĂ€der, Wohnzimmer mit offener KĂŒche und eine sehr große Terasse.Von allen Zimmern hat man den Blick auf das Meer. Das Haus ist gepflegt und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die KĂŒche hat genug Geschirr. Im KĂŒhlschrank ist eine EiswĂŒrfelmaschine.Die Vermieterin ist wirklich sehr sehr nett. Kaution wurde nach knapp zwei Wochen zurĂŒck gezahlt. Bei unserer nĂ€chsten Hawai’i Reise buchen wir dieses Haus wieder.

ABOLUTELY SPECTACULAR LOCATION!

Hale Kai is situated just a few steps from Baby Beach. We could not have asked for a better location. The house is comfortably furnished but we ended up spending all our time relaxing on the Lanai, listening to the sound of the ocean and watching the waves roll in. We were in Paradise! Outstanding!

We returned from our family vacation 2 weeks ago and have been missing this OUTSTANDING home every day since. It is the perfect location for traveling between excursions, beaches, restaurants and everything else you may want to appreciate on the island. The home is next to Baby Beach and was somewhat busy on the weekend, but the week days were wonderful. Although this isn’t a “swimming” beach, it was great for snorkeling, floating, young children to play, and relaxing by the ocean. The views are amazing....just amazing! As for the home, it was perfect for us and our 2 children. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking items you would need and the home had fans, extra bedding, and beach towels. Loved how clean the home was, too! It is within walking distance from some cute shops, restaurants, coffee shop, and a market. Ate some breakfasts and dinners on the lanai and just can’t stop thinking of the view! Hope to make it back to Hale Kai again...Just Outstanding!
