It was beautiful. The people were kind and helpful and we learned a lot.
2 night stay in Koyasan. Everything you would expect from a temple stay. Chanting prayers at 5.00am, meditation at 6.00am. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with directions and onward transportation information
The food is really weak here. I know it’s a monastery and it is what the monks cook and eat, but come on - price for staying here has nothing to do with simplicity or modesty. I think they could do much better with the money they charge.
Amazing experience, really got to get into the ceremonies that make up these monks' daily lives. Food was great too, nice baths, room was the nicest I've ever had in Japan, was well worth it
I was very disappointed. The rooms were old, dingy, and the view from our room was supposed to be serene, but half of the view was of an old trailer or building and trash. Very sad. I would not recommend this to anyo e
It was great to experience how the Buddhist live not withstanding it was a small insight. The history is steeped in the area and you can only imagine how the early settlers made their way. It was a great experience for us to reflect and take some time away.
This is a working religious institution. While that must be a wonderful experience for Buddhists, it does create pressures for those of other faiths. The property is staggering and well maintained.
