Before travelling we emailed the hotel with a bunch of questions and they responded very quickly. Upon check in they had notes with some of the questions we had asked previously. Found a large ant on the bathroom wall which the staff did not seem to take seriously. Otherwise, nice hotel and room. If I were to go back to Kyoto, I would stay at a hotel closer to the main train station which is about an hour walk from this hotel.
