We loved the historic beauty of the house, very unique. Unfortunately there were a number of homeless people on the same street, sad situation. The property and home has quite the charm though and a museum quality feel with modern comfortable touches.
The house exceeded our expectations! It was beautifully restored and it was fun to view all the pictures and items of years gone by. Enjoyed reading about the history of the place.Perfect location. We walked to many of our events. Will definitely book this place next time we're in Lacrosse!!
Everything was great for us, we needed a place to stay for one night and thought why not try something other than a hotel. We enjoyed looking at the history of the house and how it came back to life. Obviously, it was much more than two people needed, but it was nice to stay in such a grand place. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location was great, we lived in the La Crosse area for 20 years so it was nice to be back.
We were planning to tour the Lacrosse campus with our two daughters and thought why not make the trip a little more fun and stay in this historic building. It was a very cool building. A few areas of the house that could use a little better cleaning, but the beds were very comfy, the kitchen had all you could need and it easy to check in and out.
We are 4 women in our eighties who have been friends since grade school. We take an annual 4 day trip each summer. This year we wanted to learn about the Driftless area of southern MN and WI. The mansion in La Crosse was the perfect home base for exploring the area. We enjoyed our stay at the Cargill-Pettibone mansion. Lots of room and nice accommodations. We would definitely recommend it to a larger group.
Very nice property with lots of historical significance. Great to have en suite for each bedroom, beautiful large porch to recap the day and plan for tomorrow over a glass of wine, nice kitchen and lots of room to spread out. We enjoyed our stay!
The house is lovely, historic and well furnished. We spent as very comfortable weekend (12 adults) and enjoyed our time in the house as much as we did in the lovely town of LaCrosse.
Beautiful house and the history behind its years since built was great! What we could not locate displayed within the house we were able to find it online!Great house!!
This well-preserved mansion is a look into a bygone lifestyle of a prosperous La Crosse family at the end of the 1800s. The floors alone tell a story of opulance.
