No, the ocean was not visible from the room as I requested my view from the room was another building; to see the ocean I had to step out on a balcony and look out to the right and see it over some other buildings at a distance. This was misleading and disappointing. Now that you mention it, I should be asking for a refund. As far as the room it was clean, and the staff was professional and nice. I also didn't like the fact that they charge to self-park, when you pay these prices and drive several hours to stay at a hotel for medical reasons, you should get complimentary parking.

The hotel would tremendously benefit from renovations. . I may be a little picky but that’s my honest review

This was my 3rd stay at Inn By the Sea and have loved my stay each time. The staff is always helpful, and friendly and the property is clean and tidy at all times. Love my visits to La Jolla and will always stay at the Inn.

The room was clean and comfortable. However, my room was right next to the elevator, which I could hear. Also, I was on the second floor, and my "balcony" - which was also right next the elevator (there are 2) - faced a landing and parking lot. It was not worth using.

Great location and, while simple, very nice accommodation. The best part is walking distance to many great restaurants and beaches. Thanks to the front desk staff I was upgraded to an ocean view room on the 5th floor, which was beautiful. I hope to return again soon to this hotel on my next visit.
