Beautiful location on the waterfront with a well-stocked guesthouse and gorgeous gardens. However the initial frustration was that this vrbo looks like you can use the water but the hosts really donât want you to at all, even in the summer. At the time we booked, the listing said you could use the waterfront if you rented something from them but then it came with a lot of restrictions and pushback. Patricia ancvommodated initially but then became quite negative through the stay. The other issue: the house was having issues with ants in the kitchen area and a lot of spiders at the time. Itâs also hard to cook with the sink in the laundry. This listing is a basement suite and the host lives upstairs so the host is always walking by the guest house to access the waterfront and it didnât feel particularly private. AC can only be controlled from the ownerâs side. The main reason for the lower rating though was the host. My family felt that she was hovering and watching us constantly and then sending us emails that got increasing negative over the course of our stay. She blamed us for the ants in the kitchen, double charged what she said she would charge for rentals, and was guilt-tripping us that they needed to get more life jackets after double booking water activities. We have 2 well-behaved dogs (1 pet and 1 ESA) and even though we blocked them off when they were inside alone, she was kept complaining about them and accused us of lying about the support dog.
