Incredibly peaceful, beautiful location. Definitely spartan accommodations so bring what you need aside from towels, bedding, and very basic kitchen utensils. The donkeys make this place! They are very friendly, especially big brown Jasper. My son was in love by the time we left. Highly recommend if you're game for a rustic and unique experience!
First of all we did not stay because the conditions of the property inside and out were unsafe, unsanitary. There were rotted out boards on the porch and holes in the porch flooring crudely covered by old particle board. There was a makeshift rusty sink with crudely arranged boards surrounding it. The refrigerator was unsanitary/nasty with presence of mold. The notes in the visitors book with glowing reviews were written in the same handwriting. This dilapidated building is in a pasture with animals that have deficated all around the building with no effort by the property owner to clean up. There were PILES of animal dung next to the building. Immediately surrounding the building were junked metal/equipment. No one came to greet us, and it would not have mattered because we could not get away from there fast enough. Also next to the rental was another like-kind building falling in on itself. I canât imagine anyone staying here given the poor condition that it was in.We are not angry or irate, but this needed to be brought to vrboâs attention, because you Vrbo are recommending to the unsuspecting public that this is a most desirable and safe place to reside- it tarnishes your reputation as a reliable advocate to the unsuspecting public of a clean, sanitary, safe place to spend an enjoyable period of time and hard earned money. We would appreciate a response from you Vrbo regarding this matter.
If you are country and just hate hotels or city and want to get away this is the place. No frills, nice down-home country kinda place. If you dont like insects, grass, fresh air and soil....stay in the Holiday Inn. The donkeys are just icing on the cake!
Everything is exactly as described in listing. Peaceful and quiet. Horse and donkeys were hilarious. Probably not the place for someone used to living in the country but great stay for us city people.
We road our motorcycle to Medicine Park to ride the area around there. We only needed a place to sleep for the night. This was way off the beaten path, down a gravel road, then across a field with just dirt tracks in the grass. It has a beautiful view. The Donkeys came to visit around 9pm just as my wife was about to get in the shower. She enjoyed feeding them carrots, they were not pushy, nor did they bang on the walls. We had dinner nearby at Ann's restaurant, the food and service were great. We filled up with gas and picked up a 6 pack at the convenience store next to Ann's then enjoyed a few beers and the sunset from the porch. The next morning, we enjoyed coffee from the porch and then set out on our ride. It is a shack in a field, don't expect anything more. If we were to go back to the area, we would stay again.
I took pics. Visibly dirty. No toaster. Water out faucet brown. Illegally dumping bathroom waters (bile) on ground under back covered by blanket to hide. Broken chair inside.big dip in bed like broken. Porch patched & or missing wood w/side step unsecured. Husband fell back catching on elbows and butt before hitting his back on main porch. Also they have a notebook for personal stay responses where 1/2 pages have been ripped out assuming it was bad reviews. And theres still more that isnt right, good or legal but hazardous instead. Will never stay here again infact, this place should not be promoted or allowed to rent as an airbnb. Never have i ever stayed in such a poorly kept & or poorly constructed airbnb. We wouldve been better off in a tent! Only upside: the poor donkeys living there. Which if u run outta carrots they continously hit the side walls and door with there heads very loudly. unsecured where husband fell catching himself from hitting main porch o
I expected rustic accommodations and to rough it a bit but was also expecting a bit more charm and cleanliness. It was a unique stay and it was fun feeding the donkeys in the morning but didnât quite have the charming surroundings I was anticipating. Some signage to find it would have been helpful. It was easy access to hiking and nature areas.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was fun feeding the donkeys and Bo, the horse. Cabin was tiny but it had everything we needed for a one-night stay. The sheets, comforter and towels smelled very fresh. TV had lots of channels. WiFi was 5G.
The property was accurately listed and was exactly what we were seeking. The donkeys made the whole time even more enjoyable. Thank you for a great stay.
This was our second stay. We love the quietness of the property and of course the horse and donkeys. Perfect spot for a weekend or midweek getaway. It is also a great base for traveling to local attractions like
The wildlife refuge and Medicine Park. Just make sure you bring extra carrots.
It was great! Loved its location, the donkeys & Bo the horse! Donât let the appearance fool you, it was clean & neat with no other people around you. Most peaceful place me and the wife has stayed!
I was looking for a surprise stay somewhere when I stumbled upon the donkey ranch. I immediately knew my wife would love it and I was right. We had a great time!
