UL Convenience

The Kilmurray Lodge was very convenient and close to UL. The rooms and common spaces are clean and comfortable. Well-kept accommodation with very friendly staff.

We found it nice and convenient. It was clean, very accessible and the staff very friendly and courteous. I did find it noisy late in the night with people moving about and banging luggages. Also, I felt the breakfast options were pretty limited. After the second day, I was ready ti try different options outside.

Room issues

Our room had a double bed and a single. The single was very hard. It possibly should be replaced. We couldn’t get the thermostat to provide circulation so we were glad the windows opened. We kept them open all night😃

I loved the photos they posted. However this hotel is not for travelers. We stayed in room 501 and after trying to turn on the AC and nothing happened, we were told the room did NOT have AC!!!! In the summer! They brought us a fan. We tried to open the window to get some airflow, however it would only crack open maybe 1-2”. And since there wasn’t a screen, it let bugs in and we got bit (assuming a mosquito as it was in random spots). In addition the room did not have a top sheet, only a duvet cover. However it was too HOT to sleep under it. I don’t sleep well without a cover, so sleep was not my friend. And I woke up with a couple of bites from sleeping with the window open. Lastly, the restaurant was a disaster. They gave us a drink menu that included martinis and then proceeded to tell us they don’t make martinis (even though the bar clearly had vodka, simple syrup and lemons (lemon drop martini). My partner order the meat platter and it was awful. The bbq pulled pork was dry and crunchy. The brisket wasn’t smoked and clearly pan fried in oil. Had zero flavor, except the grease from the pan. Zero seasoning. He said the only good thing was the two chicken wings it included. I couldn’t believe the could serve anything that looked like that! We won’t stay here again or eat here again.

The staff are superb!

Some of the most pleasant staff I’ve ever met! Rooms are basic and a little tired and the showers are overdue an upgrade. Food was very nice and again, the staff at dinner were outstanding.
