The staff were amazingly helpful. Despite sending an email with information on how to find the property, which we didn't read, the gentleman talked us through exactly how to get to the lodging. Once we arrived our car was unable to make it up the steep drive due to it being up a very steep hill and we own a very low riding vehicle. We were however able to park on the street for free thanks to obtaining a parking pass from the lodging themselves.
The bed however was very firm which does not suit my old bones. The fire alarm was sounded roughly two hours after we went to sleep because another guest didn't shut the bathroom door while taking a shower and the steam entered the general room and set off the alarm. This was resolved quickly and we returned to our rooms without a lot of time being wasted. We did not partake of the breakfast which would have been available at an additional cost and found cheaper breakfast very near by. Overall the trip was for business and therefore I found the location extremely fitting for my needs. I'm unsure if I would stay again due to the parking situation however I cannot fault the lodging for this.
Very nice 2 night stay. The room was very clean, bed comfortable with quality linen. Toiletries were good too. Breakfast, ordered in advance was delicious and substantial and we welcomed having a coffee maker in the room.
A couple of downsides were the tight steep driveway which had been told to us in advance, the lack of small shelving in the bathroom for make up/toothbrushes etc and the very weak shower. Small things but do make a difference! It was perfectly positioned to get to all the places we wanted without moving the car so it was fine.
Direction by the hosts was spot on!
Upon arrival we were a little early but as our room was ready they let us check in straight away.
Staff were all super friendly and even offered to bring our bags in.
Full guide or room was given.
The room was beautiful and facilities were excellent including a mini fridge, milk (and oat milk for hubby), bottled water, handmade herbal tea selection, even umbrellas in the wardrobe incase it was wet!
Breakfast was fabulous and really tasty, so much choice and all locally sourced products.
Would definitely stay again if we revisit Lincoln đđ
Thereâs nothing to fault about this guest house: friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and quiet room, excellent breakfast with outstanding choice. Thanks to everyone at The Poplars! We are sure to return.
Fantastic hotel, with a fantastic host!
Perfectly placed - with everything you need, and more.
We couldnât make the breakfast time due to early plans - food was brought to the room.
A lovely hotel and we had a great stay there. Nice, cosy room and very close to the main sights( cathedral and castle) Parking was difficult (on a steep hill) but the owner or his staff were always on hand to guide guests. Highlight was the breakfast, freshly cooked and plentiful, probably my favourite hotel breakfast ever.
Lovely stay and highly recommended.
Struggled to get up to hotel in car. Room was comfortable. It had everything we needed.
Breakfast-ordered the night before. Not much interaction. We thought it was in with price but was told it was ÂŁ15 each.
Close to castle and amenities.
We really enjoyed our stay everyone was very helpful and nice. The room was beautiful, clean, and tidy. They gave us all sorts of handy tips about town which we really enjoyed. I would highly recommend a stay here.
Spent 8 nights in England. Poplars was my fave of the 5 places we stayed. That was due to staff. Though my train left before (free) breakfast, they left food for us the night before and provided fresh coffee in the morning. Meant a lot to us. Close to all points of interest but a bit of walk from train station. Cheap uber rides available. Great pick to be near Lincoln Castle.
