There was a problem with the hot water heater. Initially the property manger responded and informed us how to access the basement to reset the breaker. There was water on the basement floor (which explained the musty smell in the kitchen). The water heater was rusty and corroded. We reset the breaker twice daily for several days until the water heater completely died and was leaking. There was no response from the manager at that point. We left a day early because of the problem and still haven't heard back. VRBO says they can't do anything because we left. We are very disappointed in how this was handled.
To start, photos of exterior are nothing like the posted photos. So do not select this place on appearance. You will be disappointed. If it met all other expectations provided in the post. I would have ignored the location setting more and the outside appearance to a degree. Street is noises as well. The hot tub was a particular aspect we voted on enjoying and it failed. Green water with a mildew smell killed the vibe and therefore we could not even use. House was mostly clean, minus the spider webs, marks on walls, and the fact that you really canât clean if you have no hot water in my book. Oh yeah no hot water, showers were a mental choice to consider after hiking and swimming in the lake. Communication went to the VRBO before we made contact with the property manager. Contacting the host owner is mute point. I mean my thought is I could have dealt with most concerns⊠but the no hot water all weekend was a no go and was a huge concern. Who would rent a place with no hot water? Very disappointed.
The rooms are nice and kitchen has lots of supplies! Good distance to the trails as well as being walkable to ice cream and other shops. Yard could be kept up more but the hot tub was great.
Very disappointing. The pictures that were taken likely are 10 years old. There was something smeared on the wall in one of the bedrooms. The lawn hadnt been mowed in probably 2 weeks. The landscaping hadn't been done this year at all as the poisonous pokeweed plants were about 2 feet tall growing in the rocks. No decent skillet to cook on. Didn't matter much though because i got a call the day after we arrived that my dad had died and we had to leave. This rating is honest and i am not embesllishing at all. I have pics. If you're going to run a Vrbo be honest about what your facilities look like. This was my worst Vrbo rental I have ever booked.
Overall our stay was not to bad as we we where not really at the house much except to eat dinner and sleep. Few cons about the house! Very noisy street, Hot in the up stairs of the house, bed where not comfortable, hot tub was not the cleanest, grass needed to be mowed. But as we where there to hike and not really spend a lot of time at the home and lay around these things didn't really bother us. Everyone still enjoyed the hot tub and had a great time. We are not perfect people and nor where we looking for perfect just some places kids can be kids and not in confined area on our trip.
Outside of home was not as nice as advertised and could not get any service/wifi at all. Had to walk 1/2 mile down the road to get directions anywhere. Vrbo owner was not very responsive when I was trying to get ahold of them sadly
The kitchen had everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable. It was fairly close to the State Park. The WiFi was weak. We could not watch TV. It just kept loading and never finished loading. Power went out - and there were no candles.
Had no phone number from the owner of this B&B. Place was hillside escape. What a joke!!! Place was a dump. Musty smell. Gross!!!I regret not taking photos of this dump. The pictures online were beautiful that I was so proud to finding this one. We did not stay then we had to drive elsewhere and make phone calls to other places. Found a better place an hour later. Very embarrassing to my friends I apologized to them so many times.
We took a weekend trip for my birthday this year and we rented this property for a couple days. The house was very nice and everything was easy the access. The hot tub was amazing especially after a long day of hiking and lake swimming. I didnât need to communicate with the host much, but when I did I would never hear back from her. But overall it was a very nice stay.
The house was charming and clean. It was located close to downtown and the state park. The hottub was warm, but could have been cleaner. Us girls enjoyed our stay.
We checked in for our stay not expecting a lot but this house exceeded expectations! It was clean and put together. Me and my little family enjoyed spending our weekend being in a prime spot in Logan. We will definitely be back and hopefully can stay in this house again. We would recommend this house for your stay. 10/10.
The photos representing this home are definitely outdated. The yard was so overgrown and unkempt you couldnât even enjoy the fire pit that had rotting/broken stumps for seats. We paid extra for amenities that were unusable. The hot tub is on the side of the house through the unkempt yard. It smelled like a decaying animal and the water was dirty. Next was the indoor fireplace that is pictured with a roaring fire. The only thing is the indoor fireplace is not actually a working fireplace. It was stuffed with old paper in the chimney. There were faulty light switches that were loose and only worked sometimes. Pealing paint, lady bugs everywhere, and dirty walls. The neighborhood is very sketchy. The neighborâs dog barked at all hours of the night and the metal beds make horrendous amounts of noise if you moved a muscle. This is our first stay at a VRBO not personally knowing the owners and we were so disappointed. We couldnât even figure out how to contact the host to mention our dissatisfaction. We learned a very big lesson⊠always read the comments and donât go by overall rating because somehow this place had a high rating. We loved Hocking Hills and will be back but will never stay in this home again.
So the house overall has a lot of character that we liked. The vicinity to the road and loud traffic was too much for us. There were fans in each room but one was unusable. The walls are very very thin. You hear everything that goes on outside. Someone else talked about a German Shepard barking. We did not hear him but the dog across the street but not constantly upon making breakfast the first day we opened the cabinet to find dirty dishes filled with mouse turds. I messaged our host two days before coming and still have not gotten a response (5 days later) All in all it was a roof over our heads but if you are a light sleeper this is an absolute no go. The charm is there but more work is definitely needed
House was clean and well stocked. However, the yard needed mowed. Grass was very high and weeds blocked the walking path to the house. Electronic lock to the door was ridiculously difficult to lock. Took about 10 minutes to get the lock to work each time we left the house.
We enjoyed our short stay at this charmingly updated old home near the heart of downtown Logan. It had everything we needed. However, the lock on the back door is super temperamental. Based on the recent reviews for the property, this is not a new issue. It really needs fixed. And the cobwebs around the ceiling moldings, especially in the dining room, need cleared out. Other than those two items, it is a great property.
House was clean and appropriate. Some areas were lacking such as cleanliness of backyard with overgrown cut grass and a/c circulation to upstairs rooms. We slept on ground floor because it felt atleast 10 degrees difference in temp. None of them deal breakers but something that could be remedied or specified in description.
