The Good:
This is a very cool hotel with a great vibe. The staff are genuinely friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable â bringing us snacks, laundry bags, and anything else we needed. The hotel offers some thoughtful perks, including in-room bidets, complimentary shoe shining, and a free shuttle service within a 3-mile radius.
The Not-So-Good (especially at nearly $700 CAD per night):
A few things were frustrating. The shower/tub setup is unusual â the handheld showerhead is positioned outside the tub, so water ends up all over the floor, and the water pressure is very low. The beds arenât true doubles or queens; they feel more like oversized twins, and the pillows were quite uncomfortable. The sink is set at an awkward angle, and since we didnât request housekeeping, it took three calls just to get extra towels. The minibar was completely empty, which was disappointing at this price point.
Additionally, although staff were present outside managing valet and opening doors, no one offered to help with our luggage â neither when we arrived nor when we left â so it didnât seem like a one-off oversight. At this price level, that kind of assistance is expected especially when they decide to put stairs at the entrance to a luxury hotel.
Overall:
The hotel has a lot of charm and some great staff interactions, but several practical issues made the stay less comfortable than it should be for the cost.
