The best property! Feels like home away from home. It is beautiful, spacious and well appointed. We donât want to stay anywhere else when we visit Lynchburg!
We stayed at the Dutchess with family to attend a concert at the Academy of the Arts. This is a special property that has been beautifully restored to include open space, modern conveniences and nice furnishings and decor. The Dutchess on Pearl retains the feeling and charm of the era it was built including original wood flooring. Beds were comfy, kitchen well stocked and common areas conducive to shared conversation. It also is convenient for strolling around the neighborhood or visiting the many local attractions.
The house was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We cooked so found the kitchen very well equipped. We chose this home for the location and walkable to town. It was very walkable yet hilly if you live in a flatlands area . We were concerned about parking with 5 of us driving in from various areas but it was not a problem at all- plenty of street parking in front or very near the house . I would stay in this home again if we travel back to this area. .
This home was beautifully decorated and well equipped for our 10-person stay. The beds were so comfortable and the coffee bar was a pleasant bonus. Small amenities like popcorn, sparkling waters and makeup wipes were icing on the cake. Check-in & check-out were simple, communication was clear. Would 10/10 stay here again when visiting out LU student!
The Duchess is as lovely as the pictures portray. The house has everything you could want or need and then some. It is beautifully appointed and decorated. Extra points for the little Christmas tree for the holiday.
My husband and I stayed at this property across a long weekend visit. We appreciated the quick walk to the downtown area Community Market, restaurants and the Riverwalk trail; just be aware of the hill, heading back to the home. Lynchburg is the City of Seven Hills, after all! (I have a bad hip.)
The home was charming and comfortable, a really nicely updated and furnished period home with old touches - hardwood floors, clawfoot tub, exposed original fireplaces - intermixed with modern conveniences - hot water quickly available everywhere, a comfortable & inviting living room perfect for cozy evenings in, and an incredibly well equipped full kitchen. The house was immaculate. Linens were plentiful. And the host was quickly responsive when we reached out.
A really great pick!
Our entire family was impressed with the property. It was beautifully decorated, spacious, and super clean. We loved the coffee and tea bar, and it was so nice to have room for all 6 of us to sit in the living room and at the dining table at once. We especially enjoyed being so close to downtown. We attended a family wedding there and enjoyed the shops and the lovely market on Saturday morning. A wonderful place to stay for a group!
From the beautiful front sidewalk and front porch to the immaculate renovation, this home is more than you could want for a Lynchburg stay! The kitchen is well stocked. The coffee bar is fabulous. The beds and furnishings are beautiful and so comfortable. The bathrooms ... WOW! I could go on and on! The location was spot on! We will definitely return to this property in the future! The owners should be proud of the reno done on this property!
My husband and I stayed three nights at The Duchess and truly enjoyed every minute of it! It is a gem of a house, in the historic Diamond Hill district of Lynchburg--the home is beautifully restored and nicely decorated; every last detail has been well thought out and we appreciated the coffee bar with a multitude of coffee selections plus the snacks that had been left for us when we arrived. Booking, communication, and instructions were friendly and easy. Since we only needed one bedroom, we utilized the downstairs master bed, which was very comfortable and featured an en-suite bathroom with rain shower and spa-like shower amenities. Each morning and afternoon we walked the neighborhood, admiring the many quaint, historic homes. One day we walked to the Lynchburg Museum, which was interesting. The area is quiet and within walking distance of many restaurants in the restored buildings down the hill near the James River.
I whole-heartedly recommend staying at The Duchess and look forward to booking this home again in the future--next time, we hope to bring our family with us so that they too can enjoy this gem of a house in Lynchburg.
The house was beautiful and well equipped! It was a great base for local activities. We enjoyed Amazement Square, my dog duke's diner, the farmers market on Saturday, and the art near Percival's Island. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon!
Checking in was easy the home is simple beautiful. The kitchen, bathrooms is what you would want in your own home. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was great. Who ever redid this home did a service to that historic home.
